It's been about a year since she was on the show. I would love to have her back on to see what she's doing now and if anything has changed. Wonderful interview. So informative. Thank you all for the work you put into interviewing these authors and keeping this channel going. It's greatly appreciated and immensely helpful.

Was looking over Mia's website to check out some of her stories. Do readers not get upset that you're calling these women curvy but on the covers they're stick thin? Or do they just not care? A huge thing holding me back right now is worrying about cover design once I'm done writing.
@SPAGirlsPodcast
@SPAGirlsPodcast Год назад
Hi Jessica, I've had similar thoughts over the years. I think some readers do, and some don't - how's that for a non-answer? Stock photo sites commonly used are often limited in what they offer for models in terms of diversity and body shape and there's a limit on how much photoshopping can add on curves! There are romance-specific stock providers though that do feature curvier cover models - ask around in author groups, because they are definitely out there. Authors can contract their own cover shoots with chosen models but that is $$$ and not in the reach of a lot of us. Others do "object" covers, or covers with scenes or just partial "bodies" (eg hands holding). Ultimately you have to work with what you can and what sits right for you. But don't let it hold you back from publishing! ~ Shar

You are an inspiring individual, Mai Brody! As a writer, I am only now switching over to insta-love-romance and I am thrilled with this change. I am now completing my first three in a series and at the final edit/draft point and looking to cover images. Can't wait to actually dip my feet into your publishing world. Thank you for being so charitable in giving your advice. You are my writing idol. God bless!

I write romance novels with heros who are disabled and yeah, when I first started publishing in the late 90s the trad publishers told me they didn't know how to market it. I love self-publishing, I'll never look back!

I can't say for sure, of course, but my guess is that paranormal romance has more 3rd person POVs because a lot of those writers are also Urban Fantasy writers who often use it for that genre. 3rd person is just easier in UF for a lot of writers because they have a ton of characters and a lot of world building to do.

Thank you for another awesome interview! I learned sooo much from Mia. I hope I'm not presumptuous in asking but do you think there's a market for sweet short fiction or does it generally have to have a level of heat in order to sell well? Are there any sweet short romance authors or interview videos you could possibly recommend? It's my dream to make a living writing short sweet romances which is why your channel have inspired me so much already. Thanks so much 🙂

Hi Jean, from what I've seen there is absolutely a market for sweeter shorts. Best place to network with sweet authors is the Instalove facebook group - search "Writing Instalove" on facebook ~ Shar

Good chat and it's so nice seeing other chronically ill writers! But I highly disagree with her definition of the difference between romance and erotica. Because then you have erotic ROMANCE (which is not erotica), where the plot absolutely NEEDS the sex scenes because that's where the main characters are doing their emotional and mental arch etc. The sex is integral to the plot. So "remove sex scenes and it falls apart = must be erotica" is a flawed definition.

Im struggling to follow a lot of the jargon … KU - kindle unlimited But what is the “y”?
@SPAGirlsPodcast
@SPAGirlsPodcast 4 месяца назад
That will be "wide" which means not just publishing on Amazon exclusively, but also on other retailers such as Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Apple etc...
@nikkinewbie6014

Raising my hand over here. I’m newer to your channel and love it but sometimes I find myself in the dark when the industry jargon starts flowing. 😂 I then start researching but you ladies might want to define jargon and terms every few episodes as part of the interview for your “newbies”. Thanks for all your time and effort! Please keep it up!
