This is wrong. This is NOT undervolting, this is basically manual throttling. Undervolting means reducing the power draw the processor can take. Here you are simply reducing the speed of the processor and that affects fps. If you know how to undervolt, you can greatly improve temps without even reducing the clock speed of your CPU. All your games will run either the same or better with higher fps as temps are better.

You are also wrong lol. Undervolting involves limiting the voltage (subsequently the current, according to V=IR). Diminished power consumption is a result of a reduction in both, according to P=IV

thats not undervolting - he actually just decreases the throttle tempererature (it will throttle when hitting the temperature lock) real undervolting would be when you actually change the VOLTs

Guys for ryzen cpu's this is a normal range 90-95 anyting more than that is also alright unless it is like 105 degree which is the max of ryzen 7th series.

yes i heard that too. I play Starcraft 2 the temperature deviates between 78 - 85 degree Celcius. When I checked in AMD web page, Ryzen 7 4800H can go to maximum 105 degree Celcius.

Gonna need to cut everything up to keep the laptop longer😂. First off, very misleading title. Ryzen Controller isn't undervolting but power limiting. Here's an actual universal guide to keep your ryzen chips cool using RC: 1. Tick the 3 TDPs options under CPU and set all with a 25 W limit. Apply. 2. Go to settings, tick the first three boxes. This ensures RC launches on start and is minimized to your tray. 3. Still under settings, look for a "reapply settings" title. You can input the number of seconds there for RC to periodically reapply your settings. This is need because BIOS will sometimes re-override CPU TDP to your original settings 4. Make sure RC is open at all times when laptop in use, so minimize when you're done with it, don't close it 5. Enjoy similar gaming performance with cooler temps. BUT this only applies to gaming, productivity performance will suffer as going from 45 to 25 W causes the CPU to basically not be able to boost at all on all core workloads which gaming isn't.

@@lamii1153 Depends on CPU , try to search for the cTDP of your CPU and choose the lowest you can set. Example the cTDP of a 5600H is between 35-54 so choose 35.

Are you sure this will not affect the FPS? I realized it actually has some FPS drops. Limit it to 85C or 90C is fine. At least it's not past 92C which leads to thermal throttling.

See cpu needs some heat to perform. If we set the temp to 70-75 while gaming you may face some fps drop. So if you are getting 90+ than set it to around 85-90.

@@mikisiki1244 I think he meant that your CPU will not work correctly if there is not a degree of heat acceptance, since laptop fans are capable of cooling only to an extent. For what i've noticed using ryzen controller, if changes are marginal it'll perform like if you've done undervolt, but to a certain point it will termal throttle your cpu in order to achieve heat goal, that's why he's facing such a decrease in fps after setting heat to 70°C

Just go into power settings in windows and turn off boost. Takes 5 seconds drops temps with no drop in fps. I did it about 1 week after buyingy Ryzen PC.

This is the only solution. I have the same ryzen 5800h sometimes my laptop becomes too hot. I think replace the thermal paste and clean system fans will help.

@@tyndall8112 I find the solution while gaming is disable the performance boost and go to Nvidia setting On the FPS set to 40fps for offline gaming and if online gaming set to 60fps and use laptop cooling. Max thermal heat CPU 63c. GPU 55c. I test on my RTX3060. I play world of tank online game 6 hour no problems...so happy...

This video didn't work for me but disabling turbo boost did. You don't need to enter the bios or download additional software. @@siva-zy4eg Slightly worse performance. I don't remember exactly. The laptop that I have is notorious for reaching high temps, so it's better that it doesn't feel like it's going to blow up. It still plays well. I played God of War, Darktide, Halo Infinite, etc with 1440p 60 fps. I did use dlss and adjust the graphic settings on those games to reach that performance. Baldurs Gate 3 has gotten me to 90C before.

Disabling turbo boost for cpu is a bad idea. U lose significant performance. The temps will reduce by 15-20C but u will lose heavy performance because ur cpu is being underutilized as it runs at base clock speed... Ryzen controller is better. I have myself benchmarked both. Just set the temp at 85-90C and u will basically not lose any fps.. turbo boost is good for increasing battery life and playing light games which don't use much resources.

Yes . . . A lot if you do side by side comparison. Just setting a hard thermal limit will reduce your FPS, but lowering it can help with fan noise, heat of the case and longevity of the laptop. It's like spooling up a engine based on coolant temperature and not RPM. For true "free" cooling you either need to add better thermal paste, ensure that there are no obstructions of airflow (cooling pads don't help much). Or by fine tuning CPU settings. Undervolting my Intel CPU from my old laptop helped so much. Was seeing what tools people were using to undervolt these ryzens

Bro no worries bro locking temperature at 50 is not going to reduce the lifespan of the laptop, i locked cpu temps at 58 degree it gives me 40 fps in story games, but you should turn off the turbo boost since you want to limit at such a low temperature like 50, only high temps like 95 reduce lifespan

the ryzen controller is not saving the setting when i am setting the temp on 80 or 85 on ryzen 7 6800H rather it is not applying the settings on my laptop ?? what should i do or is there any other version for ryzen 7 series
