I like to keep Watching Mr. Cheung Ying Choi's episode, when I watch his classical movies. I will have a some feelings like i have some interaction with my Dad. My Dad's outlook and hair style was looking something quite similar to Mr. Cheung. He used to comb his hair all on his backward side, they did all the same things, were putting some Gel on their hair. That sort of hair style setting was quite similar to some men's in 1930😍😍😍
I think you are on the right track to introduce those famous cantonese movie stars. Very happy to know that you admired Yu Soo Chau. I could see , you had a couple of Yu Soo Chau's photos hanging on the wall. Can you please introduce this legend to her fans. Yu Soo Chau had plenty of secret admirers in South East Asia. 400 movies under her belt and retired very young.
Yu was my childhood idol, mainly because of her charming appearance . I would try to find some time to express my admiration of her in the coming episodes. thanks for your suggestion.
@@WillsReCollection Thanks. William. Looking forward to hear more about Yu Soo Chau . She was very famous movie star in the 50s and 60s. As a kid, I was at the front row seat in the cinema when ever her film was on ! 😊😀
Have you watched many of the movies from that time? I only started watching them the last few years on RU-vid, and still i know Bak Yin was in many comedies, not just tearjerkers. She even played film noir type roles.
I have been watching Cantonese featured films since I was a kid. RU-vid has really contributed much in promoting them. Bak Yin has a number of comedy films, not much. BTW, what is noir type role? 😊
@@WillsReCollection I watched when I was a kid, but mostly I watched Wuxia fantasy. Strangely, I now can hardly stand those Wuxia movies watching them these days on RU-vid. I suspect I am older than you. I did not get to watch the serious drama because my parents did not watch them, and my grandmother who took me to the Wuxia fantasy, liked the cantonese opera type. Yes, Bak Yin was in more drama than comedies, but she did the spectrum and was very versatile. not just tearjerkers like you implied. Film noir was a Hollywood genre that HK borrowed. Typically the leading lady was quite devious and used men who loved her against each other.
@@dadama925 Thanks for your information, dadama. I could not stand the slow pace and the stereotyped movie plot of some Cantonese feature films. I prefer light comedy and have a laugh. 😄
Can you tell me why saio Fong Fong and Chan po chu only make one modern movie together. But they did many martial art and opera movies? The modern one was my favorite one.
As far as I know, they are good friends since young. Both of them gained massive fame in their hey days. Love story films of modern time usually consist of one female lead only while sword-fighting movies have more flexibility, that's why these two superstars seldom appear in a modern time romance movie. This is my personal view.
I saw a clip mentioned by Sit Ka Yin, Seo and Chan are very good friends, but their fans are so supportive to their idols and almost always fight against each other. No producer nor director dare to group the two superstars together to make a film because no one can predict what would happen while the two stars were together and their respective fans were facing each other, they may have a good fight. Also if the two superstars were making a film together, who should be mentioned as the leading star, no one wants the problem. Another issue I trust is the budget issue as both are the top tier stars and their salary would be high too. When they were making costume classical movie, they were still young and not so expensive, and Chan is always dressing as male lead to pair up with Seo. But in modern romance if you have two top tier leading female leads, you have to find another two top tier male leads to pair them up, this would be too expensive as a production. I don’t know if you heard about a story that there was a film performed by both star. When this was showed, the fans of Seo will all go to toilet when Chan appeared on the stage, and vice versa when Seo appeared on stage. I am not sure if this is true, but you think how supportive their fans are and this sounds too funny.
There were 7 movie star princesses Chan po chu . Sai fong fong. Sit Kai yin. They all get together but somehow I never Fung Bobo associated with them. Why is that?
@@GOFONG this is quite similar to the issue between Chan and Seo - production cost. Fung is far more popular than Chan and Seo when Fung is still a kid of 5 or 6. When Chan and Seo grew up to their teenagers of say 18, I believe Sit was about 15 and Fung was only 11. Chan and Seo (or precisely their mums, who acting as their manager) will not accept any role if this was not a leading role, so Sit and Fung can only acted as the younger sister of the leading actress. You may see there were couple of films that Sit was acting the sister of Chan and Seo, but Fung rarely did as her salary should be even higher than Chan and Seo and this was not worth for her to act as a sister of the leading stars.
Haha, "different flowers entering different eyes ". But recently, I've started to appreciate her, especially her form , her charm and her pretty face of course after watching 街市皇后 again. Thanks 😄
