Jared Nyman If u gonna watch both I recomend 2003 first. But if u only gonna watch 1 I recomend brotherhood. Just know that brotherhood is not a sequel. 2003 differs from the OG manga from about ep 25. While brotherhood follows the manga. Also the first 25 eps of 2003 have about the same content as the first 13 of brotherhood. So by watching 2003 first it'll feel less repetitive. Also 2003 introduces u way better to the world of fma and alchemy

I disagree. I love LeeandLie's cover. I also love Caleb Hyles cover. I also love this cover. Why does one cover have to be better than the others? This is definitely one of my favorite songs. More versions of it? Yes please. I don't ask cover artists to do versions of songs just because I want to hear it in English, although that is one reason. I want to hear their take on it. Every artist is going to sing the same song slightly differently. That's OK. No, actually that's amazing. It means I can listen to four, five, six, or more versions of the same song. I never understood why people get "tired" of genres or stories or music when it's played again and again. That's like saying "I'm tired of chocolate. Never again will I eat chocolate." I mean... yeah, whatever, you had too much chocolate all at once. Give it a year. Maybe two. Then try chocolate in a new context. A new light. Rediscover what you already know is awesome. I love Studio Yuraki's versions of songs, but I don't want them to be competing to outdo the rest of my favorite cover artists, nor do I want them to avoid those songs. I want to hear their take, and that of the others. Unless it's a bad song. Then I don't want to hear anyone's take on it.

mathig nihilcek See, that's where I think you're wrong. Yes, everyone has a different take, but sometimes they're equal, sometimes they're not. For example, Jonathon Young and Caleb hyles cover of "the day". I like Jon's way more to pump me up, but Caleb's is more melodic, and I think flows just a bit better. But they're both top notch. On the flip side, you have Amalee covering Unravel, and Jon covering Unravel. While Amalee's is by no means bad, it's really not the best there is, where Jon's is objectively the best English cover of the song there is. This is coming from a guy who loves the lullaby versions of song Lee does. Besides, competition is good for people. It creates the best product there is. I feel like I've unfairly been bashing Lee too much, so I'll wrap this up by saying she dominates the SAO openings

It's all subjective. I personally tire of the SAO stuff. My hatred for that damned disaster bleeds off into the music and art for it. I think the quintessential LeeandLie song is her lullaby variant of Reluctant Heroes. Her style is frequently a little bit slower and more melodic. Sometimes she'll pace the music up, but her voice just has an impactful emotional tint to them. This version is nice. Very up-beat, pronunciation of the lyrics is great, and the vocals are in melody and rhythm, and I love the lyrics... but one critique I have is the vocals feel way too even. Almost monotone. Not the pitch, but the intensity or emphasis. It sounds good, but rather emotionless or passionless. Which is great when you want to listen to a song for the sake of being a song. It acts as a neat base. LeeandLie's version, meanwhile, sacrifices pronunciation but feels so much more emotional and driving. Which is both a blessing and a curse. Its easy to tire or disagree with someone's emotional perspective, whereas you can't really argue with a cleaner version. Caleb's version also feels more emotional, and the pronunciation is great too, but the instrumental is disappointing. So much so that I kind prefer his previous version that just poorly ripped the original instrumental directly. It's a little annoying hearing Japanese mixed with English, but his newer instrumental feel so plain. In contrast, Studio Yuraki's Kiss of Death cover blew me away. I initially hated, but came to love how the original felt so emotionless and dead, but came alive later. Studio Yuraki nailed that. Actually, now that I listen carefully, I think that's it. Sam's vocals feel very even-intensity. I know there are times when I prefer that style of music. Like if I'm looping a song, the emotional flavor gets very repetitious and annoying. I wouldn't loop leeandlie's Period too much, but I would loop Yuraki's period at least for an hour or so. Looking at Unravel, I think you took the same argument I made. In that case, LeeandLie holds the more emotion-less (relative to young's version) melodic version, whereas Jonathan Young went full emotion with a much better focus on dynamics. Here's a thought... which makes you want to sing along more? I feel like I'd rather hear LeeandLie's even dynamic in order to make it easier to blend in than Jonathan's version. Like... I wouldn't want to ruin it by joining in... but isn't music supposed to make you feel something and want to join in? It's subjective, and there's a purpose for both versions.
