I am a native English speaker so it's haunting to hear what I know so well in Japanese. The lyrics are even more devastating in English, I think . You have a lovely voice. You capture the spirit of Higurashi beautifully. There's nothing more I love than Higurashi, so I cherish this.
@@asthavkhasiya I used to be pretty obsessed about getting my friends into it back in the day. But you can't just force that. Though I managed with one good friend and we watched the series together.
To be fair, these lyrics aren't a 100% translation, some of the lyrics were changed to make it easier to sing as Japanese has waaaay more syllables than English. She did a good job sticking to the theme of the song though that's for sure. It would be super difficult to sing the full translation, which is why I say Japanese songs tend to tell a story rather than mean something like English. Where as English will sing a song to express ones love, a Japanese song tends to tell a story about love
Okabe Every time I hear this song I think of the scene where rika is tied up in the back of takanos car and hanyuus crying because she let rika down again
Beautiful... just beautiful. This is the only English cover of this song I've heard but I'm sure it will be my favorite even if I hear 15-20 more English covers of this song.
Judging by your profile picture you are a higurashi fan and that's awesome. I agree, this is the first and best eng cover of this song I heard and is my most favorite in the Higurashi ost. I hope you have an amazing day :D
Okay, so just a little fun fact to go to this _very_ beautiful song. Higurashi translates to "When the Cicadas Cry", and if you don't know what a cicada is it's basically a butterfly's and fly's love child, kinda like a colorful fly with somewhat bigger and thicker wings. I suggest just googling it. Lmao. In Japan when cicadas are seen in the summer it's a sign of rebirth and renewal. With all of this happening in the summer with the different timelines going on, renewal, etc. etc. There's also lots of crying. Welp, there you go; the more you know! (Also, thanks for reading all of this.)
IchibanOjousama Thanks for the reply. I apologize for not being clear in my comment. I intended to merely point out the...amount of crying, not interpret the title as a parallel for the character's actions. It could be seen that way though. I see that you're very opposed to that though. What do you think the crying of the cicadas represents?
This song always made me think of how everything was going to turn out in the end of the story. Before the recent ones came out, and how fate was looked at in someone's hands.
this is beautiful! Your voice inspires me Jayn! one day i wanna be just like you! A wonderful singer with so much talent that makes everyone’s day when they hear your singing! keep on singing Jayn!
Its 2020 and I STILL love this song. I listened to this song after a really bad break up like half a decade ago now and I still think its one of the best songs I ever heard. I love the content you continue to put out and will continue to be a avid listener.
I've seen the first and second seasons so many times, never get tired of them. One of the few series where I just can't bring myself to skip the opening songs.
It's been six years since I watched Higurashi, and this song being in English made me realize that it expresses Shion's feelings rather tha Rika's. It's beautiful.
this is such an amazing cover. so delicately executed-- your voice conveys the enigmatic and eerie aura of the original, yet it still sounds so very beautiful.
Wow, actually that was massive. I didn't know if that cover would be worth listening, 'cause sometimes, there's some covers on RU-vid with bad sound quality. But yeah, your cover was really nice ! Your voice and the lyrics you made for this version of this song really made me cry a bit. I might go and check your other videos, because this one was so great that I can't imagine what other song you covered that nicely, and I look foreward to discover it :)
Your voice is so lovely! I just subscribed today after watching your English cover of 'Seizensetsu' for Bernkastel and it was amazing! I really want to see you make another fandub of a Umineko song c:
A little late, but oh my god I love this song so much! You're voice is so beautiful and fits the song so well! Every time you do an Umi/Higu song I get goosebumps! Thanks so much for doing this song~!
My friend and I loved this song. We always heared the song together and you cover too. Now....always when I hear the song.. I remember on my friend...who is now dead. The song was our favourite song (I hope this was english...I can't speak english)
Jayn, i have never tought, that you'll cover it, just like Puppet, Tarantula, and Still Doll ^ω^ You're so amazing. I think, that you singing 'Pandora no Yoru' from Corpse Party (or anything from that amazing game) will be so much beautiful :3
And so..The amazing streak of covers is still going higher. Love the lyrics and the voice. Good job:) I would live to see the opening of Hunter x Hunter since the serie is over.
I love how you dont act like your better than anyone like somepeople do. I mean you always provide lyrics mp3 ect. im sure you have to make some money but you arent conceited and its amazing. your a good person. thank you for singing for all of us
+Fazbears Gaming I really appreciate this. I don't consider myself better than anyone, I'm just a dork who likes to sing. :P More often than not I don't actually feel good enough for the attention my stuff gets sometimes, I get major anxiety over it, hah. It's nice to earn money sometimes, but just because it enables me to keep singing and allows me to support myself. :) Thank you listening!
I normaly evade this kind of covers for simple reasons....1-The tranlation could be inacurate or out of sync 2-The singer could not have the right voice for the song....but you, YOU DID THIS SONG BORDERLINE PERFECT!!
beautiful! i was wondering ---- i am planning on putting together a higurashi no naku koro ni kai english dub over this summer (2017). Would i be able to use this (with credit of course!) at the end of the episodes to replace the japanese closing?
Is there an instrumental version of the cover available? I really like the sound of the instruments being more deeper in tone compared to the original.
