Idk, I remember being somewhat underwhelmed at the prospect of him being the main antagonist by the end, but maybe that's just my memory failing me. I'm gonna read it again soon, and maybe that'll give me a new perspective on him.

@@kin4386 He kindof is a character who seems shoehorned in until you look back and piece everything together. He was introduced as "Souta" really early on and was confirmed to be the one who killed Rize at the end of part one. His motivations are understandable and he plays things pretty damn well to achieve them, he's a character I came to appreciate how much build up there was for him from the very beginning, even if I didn't catch any of it on first read.

@@rightmunted7538 Oh no I'm aware of his importance in the story, don't get me wrong. I like that he plays a much more vital role than you initially think, and I even like his design and how he's sort of a pallete swap of Kaneki by the time they fight. It just feels like he's not present enough in the wider story to earn being the main focus in the later half of :Re, and I found the attempt at making you sympathise with him kinda pitiful. Oh you just want to live a normal life? Oh boo hoo. Yeah it's not like you just killed thousands or anything lmao.
