This is one of those fights that you know is good when the OP starts playing.

I think this is Kaneki at his deadliest in the entire series. He felt unbeatable here. Nothing to lose, efficient with his weapons, immune to pain and perfectly calm.

what i would give to watch this show for the first time again, the way the song starts playing is so perfect

This is the saddest anime W I’ve seen so far. No dramatic and noble sacrifice. Nobody was saved. The main character only won because he lost his mind, and just stopped caring. He gave in. And then he lost everyone close to him.

we NEED a remake, this has 8M views, so there's obviously still an audience for it!! this scene got me in my feels when I watched it for the first time, the song, kaneki finally using his (I forgot what it was called) and him just going crazy. ITS ALL SO GOOD

The part where Kaneki said "I am the Tokyo Ghoul" and then proceed to ghouled all over the bad guys sends chill down my spine, truly one of the anime of all time

Tokyo Ghoul along with The Promise Neverland deserve a remake. What they did to those 2 series’ is a crime.

I remember reading this scene as it was described in the light novel. I could picture every ounce of sadistic joy kaneki took in obliterating Jason. I still get chills when I think about it.

This is truly a historical moment in the anime community.

It’s been years since I was first introduced to the world of anime. And I’m proud to say Tokyo Ghoul was what welcomed me here. All those years ago and I can still remember the feeling. The depression, disgust, fear and pure action this show brought to the table, unlike anything I’d seen before in normal cable television, it was truly groundbreaking for me. And it’s at moments like this you really appreciate anime, forget all the fan bases, theories and so called ‘weebs’ at the end of the day, it’s just good tv. Anime does things no normal series would ever hope to accomplish, no matter the genre it can reach all audiences to some considerable magnitude, stretching our minds, teaching us new things, and brining us endless entertainment.

This has to be the best end of any anime season I have ever seen. the music, the feelings, the built up rage upon Jason and all the pleasure you get from seeing him get molded.

Damn, it's been a long time since I finished this show. I still remember when I completed Season 4 and everyone(humans + ghouls) lived a happy life together.

This was a double edged sword episode, as Kaneki both won and lost. He won the fight but he lost himself to what he fought against during the anime and that was the loss of his human side, or more precisely what counted as his human side to him. It is a bittersweet battle. Though to be fair it wasn't the loss it was supposed to be as it was accepting both sides of who he was, as none of us are one dimensional, and that is when he allowed himself access to his kagune.

Just seeing this part again makes me wanna binge the entire show over again

The schene when his hair got white and opening played has made whole season

The first season was near perfect. It’s a shame how much the next two seasons lowered the quality of the show. I mean they weren’t horrible, but it left a lot to be desired.

This song still hits just as hard as ever even years later after weve heard it hundreds of time even though the anime is underrated this song is the one that gets done dirty

The intro playing during a finale type battle is still my favorite trope

What got me so much about this show when I first saw it was how much pain Kaneki went through, and his brain turned that pain into mannerisms and even body language (cracking knuckles) as a permanent part of him in a way of coping. While they didn't include it here, when he hurt Jason the way HE was hurt, and made HIM count as he broke bones, that made my hair stand on end the whole time even though Kaneki was the victor! SUCH a psychologically unnerving show!

Can a studio pick up and reboot this series? Honestly it deserves so much more and can make a lot of money

I didn’t care for kaneki in the beginning felt way too bright eyed but this episode made him one of my favorite anime protagonist ever the contrast between him ep 1 to ep 12 is incredible

Whoevers in charge of the Crunchyroll YT account needs a raise. The clips selections are great, wonderfully titled and with this addition. I am blown away. I love this fight so much (really hits the feels) and for Crunchyroll to release a version that isn’t uncensored is just fantastic.

I don't know what it is. But when an anime plays a theme track in a fight it sends shivers down my spine. You just know its going to be epic. Bleach playing Number One always hits the spot but this episode of Tokyo Ghoul hits different in all the right ways.

Tokyo Ghoul was one of my first anime. Anime as a whole was rather eye opening for me and how I view the world. The stories portrayed in shows like Tokyo Ghoul, Death Note (when L is there), AoT, Berserk, will always hold a special place in my heart. I used to get chills watching anime, but that hasn’t happened in a long time. I feel like I’m getting to the point sadly where I’ve experienced all of my emotions to strong degrees in all aspects, and so the novelty of everything has begun to wear off. I haven’t been able to enjoy anime for about a year now. I hope to be able to revisit it someday and be pleasantly surprised

This episode had 2 masterpiece of a scenes. One, of course being this fight whereas, the other is the Rize's part (prior to the fight). The delivery on that was soo smooth and the fact that it had such a deep psychological meaning really sets aside this anime from the rest. It stings to see that Rize's part was totally shadowed by this fight let alone and I can't even blame it cause the execution on this is absolutely beautiful. However, it has always bothered me whenever I've got the chance to ask my friends about their opinion on the series. To which most of them only discussed the fight. All I wish is that Rize's part to be given the same praise as it was soo well written & the effort went behind that scene would've been implacable. Everytime I get the chance to watch that specific scene it always brings tears with it. Truly an 11/10.

The anime made us think that Kaneki devoured Yamori completely but in truth he was left damaged and humiliated only to be turned into a Quinqe by Juzo

This will always be one of my favorite anime scenes, the transition, the way kaneki gets ‘fed-up’, the way he does the exact things back to jason, the way he cracks his fingers, when he tells him to count down from 1000 by 7s, and lastly when he says you wanted to devour me so you wouldn’t mind if i were to devour you now? And to top it all with unravel, truly phenomenal

Still my #1 anime of all time. Especially with the music. I wish we could get more

2:05 it took a long time for me to notice that Kaneki makes the same moves as Rize does when she tried to eat him

This is what I love about these types of characters. They're tortured relentlessly both physical and psychological to the point that they're numb to the pain or they find some level of pleasure in it. So when the torturer tries to hurt them they barely react to it. It's why I love Ajax vs Deadpool so much. The first time, Wade was still new to his powers so he did show pain. But after being Deadpool for at least a year, during the second fight you don't even see him reacting to any of Ajax's blows or getting stabbed by his axes. The only thing that phased him was getting stabbed through the head, but even then he didn't look in pain, just really confused.

Love how the credits start rolling while theres still action as if to say "yeah, it's already over"

Almost 7 years later and I still remember every second of this fight with the dialogue. This show and it’s music really takes me on a crazy nostalgic trip every time.

Legendary season finale for any anime

1:55 This line not only says that it is his turn to attack, but also his turn to take actions. All this time he was the one suffering and bein hurt and he finally decides to let all of this out

About 5 years ago in grade 7, my best friend recommended this anime, this was the first ever anime that I have watched(aside from the ones the pops up in the TV) and i really enjoyed every bit of this series. Me and my friend would spend alot of time talking about it in school even doing the hand cracking thing. Sadly I had to get transferred out in a public school in grade 9 because my family moved out to a different place and we can no longer afford to pay the tuition fee (it was a private school). I really miss all the memories I've had with him, he was really the only person that I can consider my best friend. We're about to go in college next school year, and seeing this sence brings me back to those moments I've had with him 4-5 years ago.

This is my favorite scene in any anime I've ever watched. I don't think I've gotten goosebumps or as hype as I got for this. Dude the music and everything was so perfect. I watched it several times before I could move on. When he finally gave into his ghoul side. So many animes like this where they finally give in and none of them can top this in my heart ❤️

This will forever be my favorite "main character awakening" moment.

Damn back in good old days Tokyo ghoul so nostalgic one of my first and favorite anime

One small but significant detail is that before this, he would wear the eyepatch on his left eye, covering his ghoul eye, but afterwards he wore it on his right, covering his human eye.

Such a good adaptation, its so sad it was never adapted beyond 1 season, hopefully they will continue the anime one day

This battle is one of the best battle in any action anime ever seen. I mean Levi's battle with the Beast Titan is the best action battle for me but what makes this battle best is unravel while fighting jason. You feel the same rage against Jason as it was against Beast titan

This scene is a masterpiece, kaneki accepting his ghoul side and that in order to protect his loved ones, he needs to fight back, and last but not least the op, just a brilliant final
