【奥出雲 たたら製鉄】「菅谷たたら山内」と「鉄の歴史博物館」「田部家土蔵群」、「奥出雲そば処 一福」の割子そば、「頓原ラムネ銀泉」を巡る休日 

遠方より遊びに来てくれた友人と一緒に、奥出雲（雲南市吉田町）にある「菅谷たたら山内」へ。前情報にあまり触れることなく訪れましたが、映画『もののけ姫』に登場するたたら場のモデルにもなったといわれる高殿などの建物群は、期待をはるかに超える見応えが。また、施設の方によるガイドも聞き応え満点。たたら製鉄の歴史を深く知る、晴らしい時間を過ごしました。そこから車で10分の「鉄の歴史博物館」「田部土蔵群」も“一見の価値あり”。
昼食は「奥出雲そば処 一福」本店で、出雲の割子蕎麦。頓原のきれいな湧き水で打たれた蕎麦は、野趣あふれる滋味深い味わい。
最後に訪れた「頓原ラムネ銀泉」は、鉱泉水に大量の炭酸ガスを含む 日本有数の "炭酸泉"。ひんやり感とともにぽかぽか血行促進効果が確かに感じられ、旅の疲れが一気に吹っ飛びました。

I visited Sugatani Tatara Sannai in Yoshida-cho, Unnan City, Okuizumo with a friend who came to visit from afar. We visited without much previous information, but the buildings, such as the "Takadono" Hall, which is said to have served as the model for the tatara factory that appeared in the movie "Princess Mononoke," were far more impressive than we had expected. The guided tour by the facility's staff was also very worthwhile. We had a wonderful time learning more about the history of tatara iron manufacturing. The "Tetsu no Rekishi (Iron History) Museum" and "Tanabeke Dozogun" both 10 minutes away by car, are also "worth a visit.
Lunch was Izumo Wariko Soba at the main restaurant "Okuizumo Soba Restaurant Ichifuku.
The buckwheat noodles, made with clean spring water from Tonbara, are full of wild flavor and rich in nourishment. Lastly, we visited Tonbara Ramune Ginsen, one of the best "carbonated springs" in Japan, which contains a large amount of carbon dioxide gas in its mineral spring water. The cool and refreshing sensation, as well as the warming effect on the blood circulation, certainly made the fatigue of the trip go away in a flash.
