Sachiko, I started studying Japanese just about a month ago, and I randomly discovered your channel after the new year while looking around for Japanese language listening comprehension videos. As a young woman who grew up in a multicultural household in the US, I have been touched by your thoughtful interviews and unique perspective of the world. Though I had never heard of the community of Wajima before discovering your channel, I'm heartbroken to see the recent news. I will be praying for you and your family's safety, and the recovery of your beloved hometown.
I wonder if you are in Britain or Japan, or if your family has escaped the disaster. I feel devastated to see the beautiful seaside towns on the Noto peninsula so badly damaged.
Wow, loving the interview! Even though I haven't been born and raised as a foreigner, so many things resonated with me. This conversation made me feel so warm in my heart!
Thank you for doing these interviews! They're great! You might not be aware of it, but your topics are attracting viewers such as myself, who are not in the half-japanese category you're primarily aiming for. Rather, we are thinking about where to settle in and have a life. We're thinking about perhaps doing it in Japan, and your stories are outcomes of people who have done that many years ago. Your stories are how such decisions affect the people around you, far into the future, and perhaps even create children that otherwise wouldn't have existed. These stories are fascinating for us who entertain the possibility of taking the leap.
Hi Jasmine, I just "discovered" you and your story, I just want to send you love from Saudi Arabia! You're amazing! keep up your smile and I wish you all the best.
The Jazzle doing The Dazzle! ✨✨✨ Thanks for sharing the interview with Mr. Alex, listening to his story was fascinating. Keep finding those unique snowfakes!
For all the difficulty you both must have had in grappling with identity and questions of belonging, it has clearly made you both very well reasoned and articulate. As an Englishman who works at the House of Commons and had to deal with his share of nationality looks and questions growing up owing to a foreign name I can sympathise. For what it is worth, to Alex, England remains England after Brexit. We are just as international in outlook, if anything our relationship with Japan is our fastest maturing partnership.
Sorry to use this method to reach out to you but the quake and tsunami happening around your home and family has us worried. Are you and your family OK and what does your community need?
Thank you for your content! Was your intro a teaser that you'll be posting an interview with Joshua and Alicia sometime soon? I look forward to seeing that
Great to see you focusing on this content. It would be great if you could add better audio to your videos. This means adding dedicated mics, either hand-held or lavalier mics. You could record separately to an audio recorder and sync in post or record to your camera.
Thank you for your videos! I am Japanese, grew up mostly in Hawaii and California. I think I would have had a hard time personally were I in your situation while growing up.
It is so great to see you post another video. The mothering in me always wonder how you're doing on the road, if you are still traveling. You should get a Patreon account for your fans. Q: Does anyone ever comment that you resemble Catherine, the Princess of Wales? Do people follow the Japanese Imperial Family as the West follows the British Royal Family???
This is interesting. My partner is from Europe and he and I live in Tokyo, and we go out quite often during weekends and we talk and argue quite a lot in public. Almost everyone around us are Japanese (or maybe 80% of them are since there are so many foreign tourists lately) and sometimes I wonder what they think about us. Sometimes it happens that people think I also am a foreigner (like when we go to restaurants or local inns), but that's strange since we talk only in Japanese. But usually people look like they have no interest with us. It's like theu don't care at all seeing a Caucasian arguing with an Asian on a metro in Japanese. However, on the other hand, they seem to care a lot about white/black people speaking Japanese when listening to your experiences.
