【東方ヴォーカルPV】S.A.R.I.E.L.【暁Records公式】 

何度もシャウトされてる「kadosh」というのは「聖なる、神聖なる」という意味で 聖書では「聖なる、聖なる、聖なる万軍の主」のように3回続けて言われる事が多いです。

I love how 暁Records uses "holy, holy, holy" as a main portion in their lyrics (as well as the Hebrew version) as it is something that the seraphim say as they fly around God in the Book of Enoch, the same book that the archangel Sariel comes from. A very niche reference but a very appreciated one!

Great to see this theme get some love. Sariel themes are easily one of the most unique among PC-98 score.

"Kadosh" literally means "sacred" in Hebrew if anyone is interested. Also banger, as always.

I like the sense of progression in Sariel's character throughout this song. First she sings about faith and universal love, the kind of things you'd expect of an angel. Then in the second verse it suddenly gets darker, Sariel mentions having been kicked from Heaven and starts talking about death as a deliverance, it is implied that she has fallen for overstepping her boundaries and bringing death where she wasn't supposed to. By the third verse she seems to have lost what sanity she had left. She looks upon humanity and finds it wanting, and it can be presumed that she will settle for nothing short of total erasure of mankind. It's basically chronicling her path from a holy entity to the evil creature she has become by TH1

I am always down for some Sariel love. Considering how underrated she is and how strong her theme is it's always a treat to see Sariel arranges. And I'm amazed at how metal you made shouting Holy in hebrew. 10/10 Absolutely divine arrange. Also the art for Sariel here is beautiful. Would really like to see the full spread for some of the shots.

It's such a shock to see 暁Records do a Sariel PV of all characters, and the illustrations really give off that ethereal vibe. My personal favourite PC-98 theme and generally favourite Touhou theme of all time, and quickly becoming my favourite 暁Records arrangement. Stack has such a fantastic vocal range, the 'Kadosh! Kadosh! Kadosh!' was such a shock when I first listened. The lyrics are such an impressive feat given the lack of background given for Sariel, and the themes of her descent and becoming corrupted in these lyrics was such a genius idea, it really quickly made this my favourite arrangement of her theme. Good work, everyone! I'm gonna purchase the CD the first chance I get.

I love how stylistically-similar Sariel is depicted here compared to Griffith, really works, at least in my strange head. Absolute slapper of a song either way, Stack has an insane vocal range and the instruments are always different. Stunning how people can take a single composition and make wildly-different songs from it.

Other than a midboss in LLS that may or may not be an angel, Sariel is the *only* angel in the entire Touhou series, both in PC-98 and Windows (Tenshi is a celestial - A posthuman who was sent to heaven after death - And Byakuren is a witch). And despite having an Abrahamic theme, no equivalent of the Abrahamic deity Yahweh exists in Touhou so far (Although a genderflipped waifu version of Yahweh sounds like a great Touhou fangame character. Someone get on that). Contrary to what other commenters have said, Sariel is not an inhabitant of hell, but of Makai, which since the very first game was established to be a different realm, one which does not correspond to any existing mythology and has no association with punishment or sin and evil like hell does. Coincidentally, another resident of Makai - Alice in Mystic Square - Is known as "Maiden of Death", echoing Sariel's title of "Angel of Death". The same game introduces Shinki, the first Goddess in the Touhou setting, who is described as the creator of Makai and _everyone_ in it. Combine this with Sariel's first theme being possible to translate as "Now Die, For The Debt You Have Accumulated" and it seems like she isn't a "fallen angel" but one who faithfully acts as messenger and warrior in service of her creator Goddess, Shinki. On an unrelated note, I really want to see Akatsuki Records' take on Konngara. Since this video is new, I feel like we might see it soon.

The line where Sariel says "Soul who fears not God" is interesting. That's very similar to what Chimata says at the end of TH18: "O wonderous human, who fears not even God." Is that intentional? If so, referencing the newest Touhou game when making a song about a character from the very first Touhou game is pretty neat; it's like bookends.

I love how this song compares Sariel to Lucifer, first and most obvious when she is called The Morning Star (Lucifer's title) but also her progression, as someone already pointed out, from being a typical all-loving angel, to questioning god's creation (asking why, if we're made in god's image, do we suffer so)

Seriously, I'm used to this kind of “Akatsuki Records style”double publish. But it's also in expectation cause Stack must make a new album for Comic Market 100.(笑)
