I'd like to object that thought! Of course, none of us know the actual reason or what Ryo was like when he was alive BUT from what we can still see in his songs he doesn't seem stupid enough to kill himself because he couldn't "handle" life itself anymore. Let's talk about the word "darkness" that you used. Yes, depressed people are certainly in a dark place and it shows in their music. Their sonsg sound dark and like a cry for help. Not with siinamotas songs don't you think? All of his music feels soothing, thoughtful and sad yes. I'm very sure that he was fully aware of his words and knew that there are many things to live for.. but not for him however. Something makes me feel that there was a much deeper reason than a simple depression that made him do it. From the very beginning on his songs have this tone. He published his first vocaloid song on 2009, he was 14 years old at that time. There is no.. turning point of sorts where you usually would pinpoint and say "oh, here you can see that he fell into deprerssion" He had very deep and wise thoughts earlier than many many normal people. Maybe he just accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish. I really don't know.. I can only tell you how I feel

Me too, but...

From what I can understand from the english subs, I think its talking about how if someone were to act differently to certain situations/act differently of who they are now, they would have gone down a different path in life and be happy. "So many "what ifs." come leaking out." "If I was liar, would you scold that lying me?" "If I were an honest person, would you believe me until the very end? You'd surely smile at that, everyone would begin to understand." Wanting to redo certain points; mistakes in your life... Thats how I veiwed it.

I thought so too, but... I also thought it was about pleasing the people in life more effectively. Like, if you took the path more toward what would make them happy, you'd be happy too....

Well, this one (towards the end), also "Goodbye Everyone", "Healthy End" (which I think was released after his death, but in the lyrics he explains how it was his decision all along, and he is really direct about "needing" to commit suicide), and "Please give me a red pen", there were probably more, if I remember them, I will come back here. What I wanted to say is in some songs it's pretty obvious that he says he wants to die, I can't remember the name of this one song, where he said he is very afraid of becoming an adult, he wouldn't like being one, and I've read that he used to say the same stuff in his tweets. He died before becoming an adult (20, I believe, is the age when you become an adult in Japan). He died at the age of 19.

Well, I checked again "Healthy End", because I haven't listened to it since the day it was uploaded, but some of the lyrics say something like "The day I said I wanted to die..."or something, and then "So many people are holding me back", and in the end "but they can't stop me". But I strongly believe that the suicide theme in most of his songs were meant for people to stop him, it was a cry for help, and I can't help but feel it was overlooked. I believe he suffered from depression, maybe I am wrong, but not wanting to grow up can never be an enough reason for it. It's just that when depression is really deep, things seem worse than they actually are, because people suffering from depression can't cope with day to day stress factors as well. I, too, suffer from depression, but as long as I have my pills, I function as well as anyone else. So this thought doesn't want to leave me - what if all he needed were pills?
