Now we just need someone to explain why we have a catapult, and jet-blast deflector in a deep space, zero gravity environment. "Well it's simple really. The JBD is there to keep the crew from being struck by the jet blast!" "The crew who aren't out there?" "Yeah, them! ...Wait." "What about the catapult?" "That's there for the fighter to be propelled to- ...flight ...speed." "In zero gravity." "...yeaaaah~" "Yeah."
@@atigerclaw I had a theory on that. Both the engine funals are to allow the ship to remain in low orbit and low speeds. Allowing the capital ship to push up words and forwards like a harrier hovering. And the flight deck is ment to be used at that time. Since the gravity is strong enough at that altitude and speed. That fighters are pulled to the deck. Like a water born ship is. The flight deck. Also saves on fual. Allowing your fighters to reach critical travel speed. With out having to bern their engines for as long.
@@Gibson7Clans I had a whole long comment typed out for this, and forgot clicking on something else in the popup comment box clears the work. Short version, no. 1: If you're looking to save fuel, trying to HOVER the largest vehicle you have is the worst possible thing you could do. If you can't figure out why, go study. 2: If you MUST force the capital ship to hover, finding an altitude high enough where the reduced gravity won't cause you to burn all your remass in minutes is an altitude so high you're almost out of the Earth's hill sphere. No atmosphere up there. No atmosphere, no 'flight speed'. 3: Ignoring all of that, if your vehicle can hover above the ground at ANY altitude, you don't even NEED a catapult because you can just cliff-dive over the side and build up speed in freefall. Catapults are to build up flight speed to take off from carriers because the carrier is on the surface of the ocean, where you have 50 feet from the deck to the water. So... Let's not justify 'it looks cool' too hard. The launch tubes make more sense. And that's BARELY.
One of theses days. You’ll have to make a full movie or episode of your work. Complete with some voice acting and the beginning of a new adventure story for your ships. 😁👍
NGL, I have a space setting and this is pretty close to how my main factions ships are intended to look. They get shorter near the bow though to give a better forward firing coverage for guns and have side pods though...
Would you be interested in some combat with space life forms? I do like the concept of space wasps/bees from some sci-fis. That make nests in asteroids, their worker space wasps are like fighter craft, their solder space wasps are like bombers. And their royal space wasps are like capital ships. Would be fun seeing your war ships, clean up the space lanes of pests. 😁
