Conner’s sister and mother were not being kind of harsh they were straight up unbelievably disrespectful, terrible 😞 and condescending. Kate made the right decision it’s not worth it.

Connor doesn’t seem like a bad person. I don’t blame her for rethinking the moving in thing and giving him money, but they didn’t have to break up completely. He’s not like the partners who are so openly abusive it’s ridiculous. But yeah, if you don’t get along with your partners family, that’s a problem.

I didn’t respect Connor from the beginning! What good man would borrow money from his girl friend like that? He wanted her to continue paying his family’s living expenses even after moving in with her. No way would a good man do that! Kate made the right decision!

How fast Katherine and Tanya's tones changed from being so abusive and attacking Kate, to suddenly wanting Kate to "Be with Connor now!" and "Give us money to pay for OUR things again!". And WHY hasn't Connor disowned his Mom and sister to begin with when they started verbally abusing his girlfriend AND himself? Those two witches are HORRIBLY TOXIC, especially when they're controlling Connor's life and life choices.

She said she knew it wouldn’t work unless they were closer physically, he wanted to move in with you! Can’t get much closer than that. He should have cut contact with his mom and sister and just moved to Washington, don’t even tell them. Just leave a note that says they have to take care of the rent from now on. And both him and Kate can change their number or just block them.

I'm going to stick up for Connor here. Before his mum and sister started being disrespectful he was going to go to Washington to live with Kate. Surely Kate could have given him a bit of time to find a job as he was going to be 4 hours away from where he lived. Connor could have payed her back over time while living together. Surely relationships are between two people and the family is just an extra. I only saw my inlaws twice a year as we didn't get on but me and my husband have been together 30 years. So I don't like the way Kate just got rid of him. She obviously did not have much love there x

I think none of these characters acted maturely... Concerning Connor's mother and sister it's just obvious - both are selfish, prejudiced, awful women looking only for their advantage. It doesn't make sense that Katherine had to take time-consuming care of Tanya if she "just" had a bad knee (can be painful and restricting of course, but doesn't leave you completely dependent), so mom exploited her daughter. Both played on Connor as the only working family member, giving a sh*t about his feelings and happiness! We don't know why Connor lost his job; he seemed to be willing AND able to keep looking for better options than the pizzeria, if it's true that he already had interview(s) planned in DC. Borrowing money from his gf wasn't the best idea though; financial dependence can ruin even longlasting, established relationships. But Kate seemed to have no problem with this UNTIL mom and sis didn't give their blessings to them moving in together at Kate's place. And suddenly Kate decides she does not only want to break up with Connor, but simultaneously demands her money back immediately, despite knowing the difficult situation her supposedly beloved bf is in? On top of that with a lawyer? So she doesn't trust him at all! I understand that you want to be on good terms with your (potentially) future inlaws. But if that's really not possible, you can just cut them off and move on with your relationship. Connor appeared to be ready to go this way, even thinking ahead about their future together. I feel like Kate betrayed him by knocking it off out of the blue - she simply ran away as the first (serious) problem showed! She didn't give Connor the slightest chance anymore, despite all that lovey-dovey talk at the beginning, only one day earlier - doesn't make her very appealing to me... I sympathize with Connor here; although he should have been more independent in the first place. Well - feeling love for each other sometimes just isn't enough... Btw: The title doesn't match this story!

The title is partly fitting but still not exactly since while the mom expects Connor to pay for everything but Connor isn't the one teaching her a lesson though he does call her out while pointing out to her & his sister that shit is going down hill fast thanks to them I want to imagine this incident finally made Connor snap & realize that he needs to leave/get rid of the toxic shit in his life. He rips his mom & sister a new one, telling them that while he admits he's at fault(mostly letting them step on him which isn't fully his fault) for some of the issues Tanya & Katherine are to blame for everything. He yells at them for ruining his relationship(probably also any other he had if Kate wasn't his first) & making him constantly borrow money from Kate, he yells at them for ruining the only happy thing in his life cause dealing with the two of them has been a nightmare for years of his life. Connor calls them out for never getting a job & forcing him to be the "bread winner" of the house while expecting shit from his partner all because they expect him to be the man in control while they're controlling him as well since "hur dur husband is in charge but mother has all power" or some shit. Tanya & Katherine for the first time in their lives(past being horrified when Connor made them aware they're in deep shit if they don't apologize to Kate) feel extremely awkward & distressed by Connor finally standing up to them/being in control. After Connor is done no one wants to speak for the rest of the night, Tanya even makes dinner for everyone though everyone only lasts a minute or two at the table before taking their dinner to their rooms for some time to be away from each other. The next day Tanya & Katherine wake to a letter on the kitchen table leading to realizing Connor's stuff is missing & his car is gone too. The letter is from Connor calling the family out for being toxic deadbeats that he's finally realized he needs to remove from his life. Tanya & Katherine are left horrified that they're on their own now as Connor is gone for good now, they not only lose the apartment a bit later but struggle to find jobs. Katherine even tries to do stripping like Connor mocked her about but he was right as they think she's not good enough though she does get a waitress job there but it leaves her feeling crushed that she's not as good as she thinks she is as she watches her stripper coworkers get attention. Tanya struggles to keep a job along with customers constantly yelling/insulting her at some of the jobs which forces her to see how stressful things were on Connor to be forced to care for his useless family. The mother & daughter are left to fend for themselves & as they struggle with their new lives they realize how much they fucked up even if they don't fully change. Meanwhile Connor has gone elsewhere, he works on living on his own & making money for himself now that he doesn't have to help toxic people. Connor manages to get a place for himself, pay off the loan he likely got to pay Kate back everything, start over & eventually afford therapy cause he needs it with everything that happened. At some point he manages to message Kate one last time to tell her he's sorry for what happened/being a spineless idiot before telling her he's starting over elsewhere & hopes she finds someone that's a better man than him cause he knows she deserves better. Connor moves on now free from his family, Kate finds someone that she's able to make things work out with, both get closure & the toxic mother & daughter are struggling alone.

Ha ha ha!! Oh lord. Conner’s sister acts like my mom. I think I’m above her because I choose to get an education and be a nurse, instead of being a drug addict with no job, like her. She even told me I only married my husband for money.

Yeah. That would be a no thanks to him. At some point, he would have reversed gears and let his family run everything and use his power to run over her. She would be stuck with his whole family and be forced to take care of them all. On her dime to boot.

This story was a train wreck... Kate cannot see a relationship past toxic inlaws that her BF clearly wanted to get away from, and that they could just cut them off. Exactly as he said. But she said no. She refused SOLELY because of how the Sister and Mother treated her. And made Conner suffer for it. Conner dodged a flippant personality switch here. Her Mother was right, if Conner did even the slightest thing wrong in the house with her, he would be homeless and jobless in a new city/state. Cause that is how irrational KATE is. There is no argument over the overly insecure Sister and Greedy Mother being evil. No one can argue that. Meanwhile, Conner is in shit creek without a paddle for literally trying to do the best thing for himself and get away. Dude needs to just run anyway and live under a bridge 10 states away until he can get a job somewhere else. Leave the Mother - Sister - and flippant GF in their respective cities and states. Of course try to pay her back but give her lip for how much she screwed him over for something he TOLD HER she could ignore....all because of HER IRRATIONAL feelings. Bitch needs to get slapped hard for what she did to him.
