I don't see the fascination to live in a high rise or tower. The higher you are, the more difficult it is to exit a building during an emergency. If you have mobility issues, it is a nightmare. Ladders only go so high during a fire. With so many people in one place the higher the chance of an accidental fire. That was my biggest fear when I lived in a apartment buildings. The kids in one place I lived used to hit the fire alarm several times a week. It got to the point where people didn't bother evacuating. A while after I moved, there was a fire in the building I lived in. Everyone got out, but some had to be told there was a fire because they thought it was another prank.

Me personally, I prefer my own house. It's paid in full. previously I had a condo with a HOA. So my house, my rules. Also Clarice, other my grown daughters and the IRS, why do your need to know my income?

Owning high rise apartments and living there are two different things. One's for an income, the for comfort.

Clarice sounds like someone from my first day program that no one liked. We even had a sayIng pull a Diana which meant break a rule on purpose. Mainly the no peanut butter rule. She told everyone she was joining the program I joined after I moved in with in my aunt. They said she was too high functioning which was partially true. They used the same thing on me which if you know me is wrong. I got in because of Nepotism basically my Grammy Jeanine went there before she died. The program director at the time loved her and pulled some strings to get me in. The people who left my first day program were glad Diana didn't make it in the program I went after that one. No one really liked her. its not quite the same situation but it reminded of that situation. The reason for the no peanut butter rule a very disabled woman who was allergic. She couldn't talk so no peanut butter was allowed. Actually nepotism was the reason I got in my first day program as well my aunt worked there before. If it wasn't for that I couldn't get in any program. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury in the state I live in now. They claim I'm too high Functioning despite the fact I read at a third grade level and can't write. My mom even works in disability services and can't get me into a program. I was lucky before I had to move though.

The afraid of heights husband has the right idea. Living at the top of a high rise can be a nightmare if a fire breaks out.

I mean, I know its just a story, but in real life that conversation would have been over in three minutes or less, and the nosy woman would have been blocked and dropped. No sane person would want to engage in the same circular argument over and over.

Are they renting or buying? You can't own an entire CONDO building where each unit is independently owned. If you are renting out the units you can own the entire building. This one was soooo confusing. Buy...rent...which one was it?

I genuinely feel bad for people who are afraid of heights. There is no view like a view from the top of the world. A tall building, a mountain top, whatever. Going to a hotel in Manhattan, lots of the buildings have small ledges outside the windows where you can climb out and sit. Great smoking section in non smoking rooms.
