This is a drive that takes you through the Shinshu scenic snowy scenery route. Continuing from the video I uploaded last time, we will continue north on Nagano Prefectural Route 36.
The first half of the route from Kinari to Togakushi does not have a lot of traffic, and there are still some narrow sections. We will drive through a quiet mountain village while looking at the majestic Togakushi Mountain Range.
Passing through Togakushi Shrine and the Hokosha and Chusha areas, where Togakushi soba shops are located, head north on Togakushi Plateau. In addition to being a power spot for the Togakushi faith, this plateau is so rich in nature that it is said to be a ``treasure trove of plants.'' It is crowded with many tourists from spring to autumn. However, due to heavy snowfall in winter, the area is deserted except for the ski resorts.
The latter half of the route, from Togakushi to Shinanomachi, has undergone road improvements and is now a two-lane road. It used to be closed during the winter, but now it is open all year round as an access road from Joshinetsu Expressway to Togakushi Kogen.
