The pugilist world is ruled by the powerful Wen clan, which dominates over the smaller Lan, Jiang, Nie and Jin households. The carefree Wei Wuxian becomes fast friends with the righteous Lan Wangji, and during their adventures, the pair find out that the head of the Wen clan is the evil mastermind behind a series of plots that would wreak havoc upon the lands.
Wei Wuxian’s attempts to protect the innocent members of the Wen clan from unfair persecution leads to disaster, and he goes MIA in the process. Wei Wuxian reappears sixteen years later, and works together with good friend Lan Wangji to solve a series of murder mysteries, eventually finding and defeating the true culprit. Based on the Moxiang Tongxiu's novel Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation.

When he whispered "Lan Zhan. Let me go" I literally felt the pain and sadness in his voice. Even the expression of his face showed so much pain and being powerless... This drama has a very good actors. This is so fcking sad that he committed suicide, he was so tired of everything - he was innocent but everyone hated him, even his brother. When he was failing he smiled bc he was finally free from pain... And that moment when he was scared that the cliff would fall and Lan Zhan could fall of...

he just, looks so relieved. So tired and happy that it's all finally over. And I think that's why it hurts the most. Because he's completely given up. And I think that's what hurts the most for me, is that he wanted to die so badly, just to be free of everything. He deserved so much better, and it hurts to know he died thinking he lost control, thinking everything is his fault, when in reality it was someone else, changing things and framing him, making even he himself believe all this death and suffering and blood was on his own hands. The smile in the end is so heart breaking, and if I wasn't crying when Lan Zhan oh so gently asked him to come back, i'm sobbing now.

Smile didnt write in script. Xiao zhan did that. He said it in an interview. ''When he saw jiang chang he smiled beacuse he want to be forgiven but chang didnt.'' and i think while he was falling he smile because he cannot harm anyone no more. Happiness of renunciation

He looked happy after seeing JC, probably thought JC was there to save him (he doesn't hate him) and then when JC lifted his sword, that smile turned to confusion and pain, knowing that JC wanted him dead as well. He's fine being killed by him even if it hurts his heart.

he smiled because he thought jiangcheng was there to help him but then when he saw that jiangcheng took his sword out, he somewhat drowned in confusion but he continues smiling throughout the fall because he knew that even though the everyone was against him and wants him dead ,lanzhan was still there helping him, trusting him , loving him, caring for him. and it’s a good thing to die knowing someone genuinely loves you so much .

But the one falling has suffered so much, being slandered, pointed, cursed, stabbed by the world, and lost so many people he loved, including his child, that he just gave up. And when he was having a ray of hope, realizing he was still loved by one person (the one in white) in an inconditional way, said person's life was put in danger for trying to save him wich gave him the final resolution to die.

In the novel lanzhan wasn't there when weiying died. Weiying died after being consumed by the spirits which he lost control of. Lanzhan was facing brutal punishment for helping weiying escape nightless city when he heard the news. He dragged himself out despite being severely wounded to find weiying, but he couldn't even find his bones. Feels even more tragic in a way..

sema shaima66 yes because if he did not do that Lan Zhan will also fall with him. Because Jiang Cheng didn't stabbed him exactly he actually targeted the rock which the only thing that supported Lan Zhan's body.

I noticed it right away. Because Jiang hated Lan too. He was upset all the time for how much Wei protected other people one of them being Lan. I just can't stand how everyone condemned Wei for protecting people but praised him when he protected them. I hated it.

That was also my doubt... why did he finally release himself from Lan Zhan's hand?? 1) Jiang Cheng didn't mean to hurt him just make everyone think he hated Wei Xiang, or... 2) he realized Lan Zhan was also in danger because Jiang Cheng stabbed the rock soooo close of Lan Zhan's hand. I also think is the second option. Very interesting.

@@522nibbles I don't think Jiang Cheng hate Lan Zhan in THIS part. I think he does but in the future when Wei Xiang and Lan Zhan are praying in Jiang Cheng's house. In that part you can see clearly all the hate targeted to poor Lan Zhan, but not here.

Jiang cheng actually doesn't want wei ying die ( he hate but he love the one and only his friends, he just doesn't like the way wei ying choose his path) JC is the real complicated character here... He realized it when Lan Zhan grabbed his hand. But it was because of Jiang Cheng that WWX killed himself. Jiang Cheng wanted to harm Lan Zhan, maybe cut off his hand, and WWX didn't want that to happen.

Honestly, all the trouble he went through for his loved ones and the fact that every single thing either got blamed on him or he lost the people he cared for most is what truly drove him to this moment. He was such a happy person only to be thrown the worst amounts of trouble and hate when all he tried to do was protect people. I could never look down on him because in my heart he wasn't at fault for half of the things that happened. It's not his fault that the sister protected him. The one thing I can say that was his fault was what happened to Jin. He was angry and that was one downfall that I feel was his fault it wasn't complete but it was at the very least partially. I feel bad for him the most in this whole series. It might be because I read the novel but I know exactly what really happened and everything he went through to protect the ones he really loved and he kept on getting slapped in the face and his fate kept on getting warped in the worst way.

It wasn't his fault. People just kept on pushing his buttons. All he wanted to do was protect the ones he loved and cared about and do the right thing by protecting the weak. He showed a lot of mercy to everyone but for some reason everybody wants to get on his nerves. And what happened to Jin Zixuan wasn't really Wei Wuxian's fault. Wen Ning was under control by someone else not Wuxian.

@@rainyang9478 See that is where I can't agree with you. The novel proves it in the aspect of believing that Wei is partially to blame for Jin the Peacock dying. He already had aggressive feelings toward him and him being there didn't really help the situation. I don't think it was all his fault but I do think he was to blame for some of it. I do think he was pushed to the point of no return after a while. It can't be easy being everyone's punching bag and letting it happen over and over again. It must be exhausting.

As for going back on about Jin the peacock, I didn't say I blamed him completely but I do think he was partially to blame. If we are going off of his emotions and Wen Ning was also then it would make sense but I don't think Wei could help it considering he really was with his back to the wall. I don't think Lan was the only person to have his back. The sister was always there for him despite it all. She would have never died to begin with if she didn't care much about him. Don't get me wrong I don't think that is his fault because of course if you love someone your going to protect them even if you have to die so on that one I don't have no blame for him. Also, I think the guilt piled on him about everything is bullshit.

@@522nibbles It was really a complicated situation cause it all happened so fast . He played the flute but there was someone else who took control of Wen ning. He couldn't even process what happened cause he thought it was his fault that he died, it wasn't until the battle at nightless city (when it happened again) did he realize that someone else was controlling the situation. Both situations were scarring because he blamed himself. I can't blame wuxian , he's imperfect but all he wanted to do was help people

That smile Wei Ying gave to Lan Zhan was heart breaking. Filled with sadness and regret. I guess you could say, Wei Ying was happy in a way that there is still one person who is willing to save him after everything that had transpired. This scene always gets me everytime I revisit some of The Untamed moments. 😭💔

So basically this is the real theory of this whole ep: Lan Zhan held onto Weiying wanting to rescue him but he didn't have enough strength. The moment Jiang Cheng came he was angered by Weiying's face BUT not just that. He was angered by seeing Lan Zhan too. He blames Lan Zhan for his family's death too bcs Lan Zhan was one of the ppl Weiying always protected and didn't want to see hurt. So he stabbed the cliff bcs he wanted both Lan Zhan and Weiying to die which unfortunately for Jiang Cheng didn't happen bcs the moment Weiying saw the cliff moving he snatched his arm away from Lan Zhan's grip and that's when he fell. As you all could see, when Jiang Cheng backed away he was smiling slightly and shaking his head which to me kinda meant something like "You're acting like a hero protecting him even now heh." That's my theory.

Actually it’s not because of that the actual reason was because Jiang Cheng couldn’t kill him and wei Ying thought he was going to but didn’t so he had to throw himself from the cliffs instead. Jiang Chang doesn’t actually hate wei WuXian that’s why he looked for his body but couldn’t find it same with lan zhan they both love him just in different ways. Jiang Cheng wouldn’t want to kill lan zhan he’s not that type of person that why he looked shocked as well as wei WuXian threw himself off. I don’t think Jiang Cheng wanted to kill lan zhan. But lan zhan never forgave Jiang Cheng for what he did to wei WuXian but they could never kill each.

@@Lauren-vw6bj I agree with the op, Jiang Cheng does love Wuxian but he blames him for Yanli's death and he has many time expressed his hatred for Wuxian always sacrificing & playing the hero part and also Lan Zhan for being one of the people Wuxian protected. I still do think he didn't have the heart to actually kill but that if he had to, he would make sure Lan Zhan fell too. So I mostly agree with the original comment

Jiang Cheng wanted to hate WWX. He wanted to kill him. He wanted him to vanish. But. When he's about to stab him. He can't. He did not stab him. Because of the love he has for him. He knows that there's still love. He hass all the reason to hate him. But, he wasn't able to fully be angry at his brother. Fans hated A-cheng without actually digging deep on what is on his eyes. On what is on his heart. He is a deep character and so I wound't blame you if you didn't understood him. After he killed him, he searched for WWX all the time. He never stopped. He searched for him. When he found chen qing (flute), he should have break it. But, he didn't. Instead, he kept it.

You know all of you who haven't read novel have no idea what you are missing i especially recommend chapter 99 because in that chapter Lan Wangji's feelings towards Wei Ying are finally brought up and Wei Ying learns the truth,it showcases also something that happened after back than at nightless city when Wei Wuxian fought with all sects, something that wasn't in the drams

My heart breaks for Lan Zhan. He tried to save Wei Ying so much and in the end, was wwx who saved lwj from fall with him. And no matter how many times i watch this scene, every time i feel like Lan Zhan gonna jump from the clif with him. He would have suffered less 💔

I dunno how to put it, but in a sense, this scene is extremely tragically romantic. The last person Wei Ying saw before he died was the only person who unconditionally loved him and trusted him. And the last thing Lan Zhan saw was Wei Ying's smile which made him fall for him.

There is a theory though how Jiang Cheng stabbed the stone instead of WeiYing is cause deep down, he was pretending to kill Weiying in front of all these people. Where he actually secretly want to bring Weiying out of there, bring him back to Lotus Cove, hide him there forever. After all, with Shijie death, Weiying is his one and only closest brother left.
