This changes how Dimitri’s story goes entirely, instead of someone who was forced to experiment on his fellow mutants to preserve himself but cracked when he saw how sad KT was, he is someone who willingly experimented on his fellow mutants and only stopped when he learned he was soon to be replaced.

I just realised that at 3:00 when Dima breaks out he also "breaks" the black bars that have been on the screen for the entire song. It's a small detail, but I love it!

So Our Boy Dima used to be complicit in the experiments and went apeshit when they were gonna replace him for no reason other than convenience, that was his ‘Breaking Point’ and KT was only the last straw that broke the camel’s back.

I just realized that Dima saves Anya because he though she was Katya, and that last scene it's him just before delivering the punch and meeting her!

Yura's "I'm not one to see people as means to meet an end" and The Doctor's "Oh it's noble to serve as means to meet an end" are setting up some parallels I am NOT happy with but I am definately looking forward to!!

What I like the most about the way Ferry does their storyline is the small twists and reveals that we find out after seeing a different persective/ a new song. For example, in PAFL the truth about KT being a mutant is revealed by the end when the house gets raided, but in KT's official guide to happiness we find out that Yura already had his suspicions confirmed when they were in the club. Then, in KT's official guide to happiness, it seems as if whatever is being done to KT in the facility became DT's breaking point to break out of the facility with her, then we find out here that she was just affected because she was the last on the list before DT gets terminated, and that DT has to some extent devised this escape rather than it being an impulsive on-the-spot spur of heroic action. It's the absolute best and I can't wait to see more

i think that metallic sound at the climax of the song and when Dima reads the letter are his headaches, thats why they sound when he breaks out, he is using to much power so the backslash its huge.

Sometimes I can’t believe how talented someone has to be to make something like this, like it’s one thing to make really good fucking music but it’s another thing entirely to DRAW AND ANIMATE A WHOLE MUSIC VIDEO??? LIKE HOW CAN SOMEONE BE THAT TALENTED EXPLAIN PLEASE-

Dima flexing his superiority complex the whole way through brings me great joy. Also, scientist lady is legit my favorite despite being super fucking evil.

This is just three minutes and a half of Dima having a mental breakdown, and IT'S AMAZING! Even ignoring the incredible animation, I mean, just Dima's character is so good - the carefully constructed superiority complex, the ultra utilitary view, the sheer wrongness in turning a victim against his peers for their personal gain, it's no wonder that when Dima breaks, he breaks so hard, he was set up to fail from the start and he just hates everyone for it. KT starting as collateral damage and becoming someone Dima wants to actually save because of his growing empathy (and also to alliviate his own guilt over his mistakes, like Yura) is just *chef's kiss*. I also love how it was hinted in KT's song that she knows exactly what his role is - "being used is really uncool", I think it was something like that, and because KT is such a sweet bean (and tends to make light of what happened in that hellhole of a facility for her own sanity) she doesn't spend time resenting Dima for it, at least until she's captured. Also Yura's plan being set up to be a complete disaster just from the parellels with scientist lady is KILLING ME. Can these kids have a break one day?? Ferry you evil genius.

Okay another thing I noticed that I absolutely love is that throughout the beginning of the song the lyrics of Dima's thoughts are frequently broken up by interjections by Temnova. Like he has not time to think for himself and every thought he has is coached and reinforced or replaced by what the doctor wants him to think. Just a really well done aspect!

So Dima’s breaking point was realizing that while he may have been favored and treated relatively well in comparison to his peers (giving him a mighty superiority complex), ultimately, to the people in charge, he’s just as disposable as anyone else.

Right after Dima breaks the wall, he is illustrated as a black silhouette with glowing white eyes. This looks really cool. But he also appears like this in Occam's Razor. In Occam's Razor, he is illustrated normally until Yura begins threatening with his trash spike. Then he is portrayed as the silhouette for two panels, before he realizes Yura was joking. Given the context of seeing Dima like this as he's busting out of the facility, it can be assumed that Dima is a silhouette during, or immediately before, doing something drastic. Occam's Razor takes place a month after PAFL, but Anya discovered Dima is a mutant about two weeks after, during Punch It, Punk!. Which is to say, at that point Anya knew what Dima was capable of, and had calmed him down (There is a panel showing Anya grabbing Dima's hand) before he fucked Yura's shit up.

(I just realized how ironic it is, that the woman who says "It is noble to serve as means to meet an end" doesn't want Dima to meet his end and saves him, by making him break out of the facility he always served. But Yura who says the exact opposite is set up to use Sanya as a pawn to save KT, throwing out their entire relationship.)

I’m getting real invested in this story, it’s interesting to see it from each character’s individual perspective, and gives a neat way to show off more of the world rather than just exposition dumping. Just binged all of the PAFL songs and read the doc, and either this one or punch it, punk! Are my favorite. Also, I love both Anna and Dmitri, and how despite how the twos personalities are almost completely different they can still get along.

I love the song, but even more so I love the video. First, I love Ferry's artstyle, but the video's color scheme is what takes the cake here for me. It gives me heavy propaganda vibes, i.e The vibrant yet unrealistic colors show that Dima's reality is faked in an attempt get him to comply. However once he realizes the truth the color becomes realistic to show he's finally seeing thing how they are. But then there's the little frame where it goes back to the unrealistic colors with the doctor smiling, which shows that Dima is still acting out the whims of other people. So good!

For a while I assumed the first verse in KT's Guide was sung my Dmitry due to the lower pitch. The impression I had was "routine check" were experiments regularly performed on her, it was fear/hatred on her face, and the her heart collapsing being metaphorical from the pain she goes through during them. It seemed to make more sense that Dmitry would be the one to pity her, but the reality was flipped. Looking back, I didn't even register the cut of Dmitry bloody at the start of KT's song.

Видно как Дима разрушил свою зону комфорта) Классная находка , мне нравится ) А также, что самые запоминающийся маленький, но переломный момент был полноценно анимирован, заставляя и зрителя прочувствовать всю эпичность ситуации .. ( Тяжело необходимые эпитеты подобрать. Видео сделано на языке анимации/кино, которое трогает струны души, из-за чего переводить на общечеловеческий мне оказалось тяжко )

This is so cool! Your art and animation always astounds me, and your lyrics fit so well with the concepts you create! It’s so interesting to get a closer look into the lab experiments and Dmitri’s views on them. For some reason I never expected him to think himself ‘better’ or above the other lab kids (maybe because of his lost puppy demeanour in Punch it, Punk!) but it makes so much sense! And knowing that KT was just at the right place, right time to escape explains why the pair split up so quickly. It was never about Katya - Dmitri just didn’t want to die, and she got caught up in it. Oh, and I really like this Doctor lady (i forgot her name lol) she’s super interesting! she cares about DT in a clinical sense, but they seem to be on good terms, and she doesn’t take him being terminated lying down. Her eyes are super unsettling too 10/10, i’m definitely rewatching this 100x!

It's got a sound that sets it apart from your other songs while still definitely being a Ferry song, and the vocals are very, very well done. I love it. Also, don't worry about the hiatus and silence. Whatever happened, you needed time to recover. That's fine, you're human, take whatever time you need to keep yourself healthy mentally.

This is an extremely belated comment, but Ferry I love love love how you use implicit storytelling in your lyrics as opposed to just straight up telling us what's happening. It feels like you have a really good understanding of your medium, making the audience infer what's going on based on lyrics and visuals in a way that very naturally feels like it's coming from the character's/s' POV. not to mention the quality of the music and art on their own!! you've gotten really masterful at what you do over the years i think :)

This song resonated with me so fricking much! Especially the “I see you’re playing me for a fool…” till the end of the song part, always giving me the goosebumps since the first listen. It’s so powerful, so angry in a way, furious, I can feel the adrenaline and I adore this song with my heart and soul. Thank you, Ferry

I don't know if it's been said before, but I feel like at times (particularly around 1:00, 1:25 ) art style is kind of like old Soviet posters with bulky square letters, pointed fingers, liberal use of red and their overall message of 'serving your country is an honor, and there's a glorious future for you if you do your job well'. also, the amount of manipulation done to Dima! like, Temnova intentionally buttered him up to keep him loyal, but she also taught him that what he was helping them do was right, because he was a very important boy, doing a very important job, helping to better humanity's future - kind of like a hero. maybe she even implied that his peers should be grateful for his assistance, except that obviously none of them thought like that, and most were probably hostile when he tried to reach out. which cemented two things in his mind. one, he understood their situation better than any other mutant, therefore he was smarter - better - than them, and shouldn't feel bad about hurting his lessers for 'the greater good'. and two, Temnova is the only one who 'gets him', the only one who's good enough (willing) to care about him, *the only one he should care about*. she isolated him and carefully nurtured a superiority complex that she alone then proceeded to satisfy. what a neat way of both securing his loyalty and working around (and eventually getting rid of) his empathy! she's such a cool villain!
