I like how you expand and break down certain words and their individual meaning.

Sabot in French means wooden shoe. During labour unrest in the 19th century, angry workers threw their wooden shoes into the textile machines causing them to break down. These people were referred to as saboteurs and their actions as sabotage. Voila!

So "Koto ga" is something about experience and not transforming the verb to a past participle. Thanks Sensei!

I have one question: in this case ことがある can be used as のがある? I remember back in のが that it was a less formal form of ことが.

In the sentence, 有名人に会ったことはありません。Since は contrasts that experience you have to many others. Is it just for general experiences or the experience of meeting a celebrity? I had to laugh at the end, それは嘘ですね。😆

Yuko Sensei, I think your students will benefit more from your sessions if you alternate between English and Japanese in your explanation. This is just a suggestion. Thank you!

I have a question, I watch anime, and I’m sure a lot of people do. But I noticed that sometimes, the characters would say “Gomen” “Sumimasen” or, “Gomenasai”. They’re all used for the same meaning, “Sorry/I’m sorry” but how can I tell which one to use? This goes along with other words too like, “Chigau” -or however it’s spelt- or “iie” and other words 😓. Please! Can someone get back to me?
@leocasillas8070
@leocasillas8070 4 года назад
Well I may not have all the answer but apparently, "gomen" would be used to say sorry like you did something bad and you apologize, "gomenasai" is the same but more formal, while "sumimasen " would be more like "excuse me" for exemple you are asking someone for help in the street. Finally "chigau " means "different " or can mean "wrong" like in animes, the teacher asks a student to give the answer and he says crap, the teacher will say "chigau ". Hope it helps a bit !

Leo said it pretty well but yeah like he said chigau is "different" or "wrong" iie just means 'no'

ひらがなを使って。It will make things much easier on you. How about "わかいときから毎朝漢字をれんしゅうしました" = "I practiced Kanji every morning since I was young" I left those 4 kanji in there because they are very common and good to learn early.

たくさんの人たちに嘘をついたことがあります。 Sensei, is the「たくさんの人たち」part in this sentence correct? すいません。
@YukoSensei
@YukoSensei 3 года назад
Gabrielさん、はい、ただしいです。Yes, that's correct. Also, whether a noun is singular or plural is largely determined in the context in Japanese. Therefore, 人 can both mean a person or people. Since you already added たくさんの to the noun, which clearly indicates you're not talking about one single person, you don't need to change 人 to 人たち and just go like this. たくさんの人に嘘をついたことがあります。 Either way is fine and it's a matter of personal style but I normally use just 人 instead of 人たち in this kind of context. Hope this helps!
