All-female Japanese Rock/Metal thing is quite the phenomena isn't it, blows the mind that it's not new at all. NEMOPHILA 🌸 is a shooting star right now. They have a wide range of genera's, but if you love DISSENSION, definitely check REVIVE set to release Wednesday. Recommend LOVEBITES 🐺 and BAND-MAID 🎀 to round out my top-3. Welcome to it 🤘😁🤘

5 girls from 5 different bands formed a project named "Nemophila". I only did know the guitar player with the red hair before, Saki is the guitar godess from Marys Blood ( try their Video Marionette ). Now the project has turned into a real band and as I know only Saki is still playing in her other band as a real member. Mayu - vovals Hara-chan - bass Tamu Murata - Drums Hazuki - Guitar Saki - Guitar Try also Band-Maid, they are more on the Rock side, but cover all from Ballads over Funk, Punk, Rock to Metal.

Japan rock/metal is all i listen to now every thing else seems dull .Nemo are moving to the top fast the level of talent in the group is of the charts .They mix it up a lot from Metal core to punk to rock, mix some EDM at times and have lots of fun. All new song and MV out on the 13th Revive look at the taster on there YT for it .

This is my 2nd favorite band out right now. Of course Band-Maid is top but these girls are pretty badass. I like that they do old school covers. I can't wait till all this is over so I can go back to Japan and see them all live. With the music scene in Japan right now, I may never leave.

This song is pure 🔥🔥. Nemophila are amazing. Try Oiran, Raitei (mv), or Blooming (live) next. They also do fantastic covers. Their Maximum The Hormone covers are especially good, as are Linkin park , Babymetal and many more. Japanese metal is the best metal, no shame in listening to the best.

Don't burn your guitars yet. You should listen to "Asterism" first, a group of three young musical geniuses. Watch Hal-Ca, the lead guitar, play, consider she's born in 2002 and then go burn not only your guitars, but all guitar you'll cross in the future! :-D

The drummer recently had a baby. She started out as a Fusion Jazz drummer. She can play almost any genre. Her drum covers on her channel have multiple millions of views. She is a fantastic musicians and cute as a button. All members are veterans in the industry. The most famous member is Saki, the guitarist on the right, a member of Mary's Blood.

The answer to your question of how they get that good is pretty simple. A lot of Japanese musicians start very young (4 - 6 years old sometimes), taking serious lessons on singing/dancing and/or classical instruments. And even if they don't, if they're interested in something they can join "after-school clubs" in middle school or high school and learn stuff there, if they don't already know how to. These clubs often practice 2 - 3 hours a day a few times a week in a controlled environment (in school, maybe even with a supervising teacher) and have several school events a year to perform in. A good motto for a lot of Japanese students would probably be "leisure time is wasted time", seeing as people who are in clubs are often in school from 8am to 3pm, then attend club activities till 5 or 6pm afterwards, go home and study a few hours until they go to sleep. I don't know Nemophila's backgrounds that far back, but you already know the perfect example of this system: Miyako from Lovebites. She started playing piano very young and then picked up the guitar doing club activities in high school. And the question of "why are there so many skilled female musicians in Japan" is probably because they need to try extra hard to get recognized in Japan's male dominated society where it's still the norm that women marry in their early to mid-20s and then be stay-at-home housewives and moms.

This is one of the bands to watch, no question. They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.” Nemophil-a (NOT “Nemophil-i-a) were founded in 2019. They are a supergroup composed of: Mary's Blood guitarist Saki ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X) ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam (also does other projects) Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized Mayu with some help from Saki. They started off posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Japanese bands are just killing it. Nemophila has a new album coming out shortly. It's odd that you started with Hanabie, most people don't find them until later since they are a really small underground band. Nemophila has only been together for a couple of years and has a very bright future ahead of them. Japanese bands > Other bands.

Yeah, my Spotify list is primarily female Japanese hard rock and metal bands. They're crazy good and have brought back a songwriting element that I feel is lost over in the West. Nemophila has been pumping out video after video so you'll have a lot to catch up on. Like many Japanese bands, their style changes so don't expect the same ole same ole. They have a new video coming out soon, and it's gonna be another killer tune (having heard the teaser clip). Between Nemophila, Lovebites and Hanabie, you heard some of the best metal around, now it's time for some crazy good hard rock. You're getting a lot of recs for Band-Maid, but they're all over the genre map, and keep getting more and more progressive. But in the spirit of fast and heavy, I'd suggest "Warning" (the live is great, but the mv is a must-see) and "Different" (finally an "anime" song that is actually an anime song). There's also "Domination" (live) that shows then at their best with a crowd.

This is probably their most screamo song. Most of their songs only have a little screaming, or entirely clean vocals. The Oiran Extended EP also has a version of this song entirely in English.

Somebody else already mentioned it as well but Band-Maid is a must to check out if you're exploring the Japanese Rock/Metal scene. Dice was the first song I ever heard from them and I was hooked immediately. However, they have no bad song so you can check out anything really.

Nice reaction! :) Just a few bits of info: There is no second "i" in "Nemophila", that's a different word ;) Also "screamo" is a specific genre of music and this is not it. There are a lot of metal genre that include screaming and growling but are not "screamo". Nemophila just did a livestream today doing a preview and celebration of part of their new song and music video to drop in few days and also talked some about what the 3 video shoots they have under their belts now were like. DAMN, this new song is gonna make heads explode!

You've received recommendations for several Japanese bands, and I will second pretty much all of them (especially Band-Maid and Babymetal). A lot of people consider the trifecta of epic female J-metal and J-rock to be Lovebites, Band-Maid and Nemophila (or Mary's Blood, the other band of Nemophila's Saki). So I double-second Band-Maid, lol! They are more on the hard-rock side, though they do venture occasionally into metal. But their talent is on par with Lovebites and Nemophila!

Just came across your channel. Enjoying it so far. I started the trip down the rabbit hole about 3yrs ago. Baby Metal was first, Shortly after i found Band-Maid and Aldious. Fast forward to today and i have about 130 unique bands and over 430 albums on Apple Music. Most of them Japanese girl bands or at minimum female vocals. One of the bands i love is "Bridear" (contraction of Bride Dear) One of their newest songs is EPIC! Check out BRIDEAR - BRAVE NEW WORLD REVISITED [Official music video] In the video, check the "show more" as it shows the lyrics. First 4 lines of song is "Swallow my shallow world. Burning down all of faces and places after all. Virus and hollow soul. Spending all of my life to discover how to die" A recent addition to this band is the drummer (Natsumi - formerly in the band Telecide). She kills it in this song.
