Actually, the Pokedollar is more like the Japanese currency of yen. In the US, once you have 100 cents, it becomes 1 dollar. In Japan, the yen is never divided nor called anything else and can be compared to the US cents. If you have a 500 yen coin, it is roughly equal to $5 in the US. This makes sense when you consider Pokemon is a Japanese game and getting a bottle of water from a vending machine for abot $2 is fairly common.
