So I was just looking for covers of this song and then I see this. Being tired, I went "eh why not, let's see if it's any good". I am so glad that my tired brain did because this is quite literally the BEST cover of this song I've ever heard! Very well done, and you've earned a subscription!

I just pictured a 2000s cartoon network show about royalty and there being a villain jester character and he gets his own special episodes about the main characters battling him and then his final appearance has him monologuing to the heros then starts singing this as a flashback plays, and then at the end of the song they just kill him with friendship (and flame powers)
Something I love about this cover is how soft your voice on the opening line sounds before seamlessly solidifying on the next one and onwards… It gives a gentle and yet whimsical quality to the song and it just jives really really well
I get really attached to the original versions of songs and that makes it hard for me sometimes to fully appreciate remixes or covers. Especially this song, which I adore so much to the point of inspiring me to create a whole character based on it. That context in mind: Your cover does this song great justice and I'm thrilled at how you captured the spirit of the original. Props.
I think im officially obsessed. When i first heard the origin I loved it and I normally don't like the sound of vocaloids. but it was so catchy and the animatic attached was perfect. So I looked for a human cover and found yours. I think I've listened to this over 30 times now and I found this song yesterday. I have to stop myself from putting it on repeat when in the car so I don't annoy my family. Your voice is so perfect and I've listened to other covers but yours just encapulates the right vibe.
Alright, this is pretty damn good! It’s not perfect but still good! I think the best line from this cover (at least the one I think is most well executed) has got to be “In my time away, you’ve ended up alone!” Like, in the OG song, it was meant to be sadistic mocking, like, this ain’t a fool playing out his part, this is legitimate sadistic mocking. Here, however the line is ramped up to eleven, with it starting kinda “calm,” like most of the song, then when it gets to “you’ve ended up alone,” the jester starts to yell, to shout in maniacal GLEE! To the king! it’s not just sadistic, this is one of the most intelligent people in the kingdom feeling maniacal and sadistic glee over that fact, and it hits hard! So, yeah, hope you enjoyed my mini-essay, and bravo to you, sir/miss!

OH MY GAWD... Can i just say that this cover is better than literally ANY of the vocal synth covers I've found of this song? Your voice TRULY captures every beat, harmony, and lyric of the song with PERFECTION! You have no idea how long I've spent skimming through cover after cover of this song, only to find it off key, off beat, or tuned horribly. This however. THIS is done perfectly! i should think so, they were trusted advisors to the monarch so there were likely some examples of the jester either staging a coup, although it'd have to be a minor land like a dutchy or something, you cant just steal the title of high king or something, or the monarch leaving the jester as their heir, likely due to not having any children. the jester would probably have to be minor nobility though, he'd be seen as illegitimate if he was just a commoner

[MY HOT TAKE] For me I always took the song to mean that the jester was given inheritance over the land when the king dies, probably because the jester has a familial bond, thus the line "And soon it will be my job to reign, over all that you see, over all that you know" and that the king is dying of disease, old age, and heart palpatations, thus the line "As the king is slowly dying, any moment he will go". As the jester states it's bittersweet his king is dying, but the jester remarks: "Yes your maker gave you time, but you can't borrow, steal or cheat." probably in a moment of comforting the king and stating the blatant and bleakly blunt truth for the king who asked for closure. "Oh the world I left you in has been tainted by your sin, and as such I have taken it upon myself to reinstate the state of laughter, and in health I will return..." The court jester found out something unspeakably oppressive and immoral upon returning to the kingdoms gates. "Soon the people remember the reason why they burn, and the fires in their eyes will start to turn, pointing fists and shouting out with no more reason for concern" - denoting people outside the castle walls have likely gotten angry over a new decision the king made and are now looking for someone to replace him, naturally they turn to the jester. "Foolish king you sit with empty meaning on your throne, but in my time away you've ended up alone" the king is without his guards, without his staff, he is all alone as the angry crowd breaks down the door to his elegant, almost sacred looking throne room with mosaic windows. As the crowd kills the king, the jester realizes someone must take his place... and give the people what they want. He picks up the crown, and puts it on his head and says "The age of reason is now drawing to a close, and now I the mere court jester will his majesty depose. I will tip the gilded crown and in me the people will repose. Because I am the mere court jester, not all thorns come with a rose. He brings the olden tales to a close... and in doing so... made a better kingdom for everyone... i've always just shamelessly copied the story from someone's animatic to this song, where the jester's actually trying to bring down an evil king, then the king kills his partner so he prematurely enacts the plan to overthrow him, it all goes wrong, so the jester has to make a deal with the demon king and takes the throne as his vassal with the demon king's power

@@Angel-Dust-The-Prostitute i think that the concept is sound, although the naive description of an ideal kingdom at the end is... well, naive, but the interpretation of the closing lines is correct, he's bringing an end to the folly of the king's reign, and whatever that entails you're free to interpret for yourself i feel as though the jester should be more involved with the riots, he's clearly not the biggest fan of the king and him seizing the throne is a good enough ending, but you describe him as just... passively accepting the role, because he's the next obvious choice for an heir as a jester, a key advisor to the king and vital member of his court, he'd know all about the king's flaws and misdeeds, maybe having him rile up the crowd, lead the people to storm the palace, order the king's guards to stand down, so the rioting populace has some reason to actually support him as a new king instead of dear lord anyone else while the jester privately supports the insurrection, the insurrection has no reason to support his claim to the throne, infact whoever stirred up the riots would likely be their first choice if i just stormed the king's palace, i wouldn't support the guy who was arguably closest to the king taking over, that's for sure any other problems i have come down to personal taste, i like big dramatic shit with a narrative like this, and the specifics aren't really essential to a person's interpretation of a song

As much as I enjoy the original, at times it's impossible to comprehend what's being said because of the pitch. The song is still great but it's nice to hear it from just a normal human vocals.
