The story is that some Gaster (not Undertale’s) allowed Chara to travel the multiverse for murderousness and have them a Delete button, but they have to record data if the places they go. They didn’t record data, so Gaster made a simulation to have them fight their hardest challenges. However, there is no reason as to why Insanity would join Phase 2 instead of Phase 1, since he’s undoubtedly stronger than Horror and Killer. While making Chara suffer, he took away their use of the Delete button. But he looked away for 1 second and they deleted Horror. He came back and stopped the use for any others. He then decided to fuse the 4, and Satsujin has a shared conscious between Dust and the corruptive artificial DT of Insanity. Phase 3 is the DT, 4 and 5 are Dust (artificial DT prevents melting), and 6 would be the DT doing the gimmick of resurrecting (Satsujin became around twice as powerful). Phase 7 might’ve been cancelled because it could’ve been another amalgamate phase, which means the only phase the DT would’ve been in charge was Phase 3. Also, it’s implied that Chara had to fight Satsujin for 5 days! I’m guessing the bonus phase is Chara fighting the Gaster. This info comes from Touken Kamui’s alternate channel. But since Phase 2 onward doesn’t make sense, here’s another take. Nightmare didn’t like how emotions were being killed, so he sent his slaves. After Horror got deleted, Dust used Asgore’s trident to break the button and absorbed Horror’s soul. Nightmare replaced him. Chara gained so much DT they fell into the void. After Killer and Insanity died, Dust absorbed their DT, and falls into the void too. After Satsujin dies, Chara moves on to Gaster, who would also be chilling in the void. They have no reason to attack the other Gaster this time. Nightmare can’t send in other slaves because he and Dream can’t enter the void. As for the story in UTOC, Glitch made a scenario to help stop a Chara (not the same as the canon MTT Chara), and helped Satsujin by giving more DT, but it wasn’t enough, so Satsujin is just a part of Glitch’s team, but the Chara is still around, so there’s 3 sides in UTOC, the other being Core’s team with Ink and Graphite.

@@Sean-qg3gg Below is a combination of both the canon and fanon origins of the Murder Time Trio. Maybe it helps iron out any plot holes found in either versions. Lemme know what you think!!! Part 1: In a normal Undertale universe, a genocide route was being finished by the player. The world's fun valued allowed Gaster's door to open, and the player interacted with him, causing him to break free from the room. After the route was finished, Gaster interrupted Chara's monologue and offered both them and the player a deal. Before being scattered across time and space, he was in the works of creating a powerful new ability known as DELETE, which allowed for both the deconstruction of something instantaneously, and the absorption of all its code to the user. During the player's genocide route, Gaster was able to complete its construction in the form of a button for someone with high determination. He also said that there was a machine he knew that allowed someone to travel to other universes and timelines, which he also finished building during the genocide route. Due to his near-death form, Gaster was unable to use the button or his machine, and so offers the power to both Chara and the player. They both accept and Gaster shows them the machine to jump realities, and teaches Chara and the player on how to use the DELETE button. The two then begin travelling to other worlds throughout the Undertale multiverse, committing more genocide routes using the DELETE button and annihilating whole universes in the process. Part 2: Meanwhile in a Killertale universe, Killer Sans descended down the route where he betrays his world's Chara, and fights them and that world's player to the death. Their fight is a close one until Killer eventually gets on the back foot, and Chara and the player are just about to win. They are however thwarted when Nightmare Sans enters the battle, sensing immense negative emotions from Killer. Using Killer's and Chara's fury, he was strong enough to permanently kill the player. He offered Killer a deal, in that he can take him to other worlds throughout the multiverse to cause more genocide routes in. Not seeing a point in staying in a world that can't be reset, Killer agreed. After multiple multiversal escapades, the two ended up in a Horrortale universe that was in a genocide timeline, one being committed by the player and Chara with the DELETE button. The two managed to convince Horror Sans to come with them just before the player and Chara used DELETE to destroy Horror's whole universe. It was at this point that Nightmare told the two dark Sans's why he wanted them all to stick together. He wanted to cause more turmoil across the multiverse as a collective group, more so then they ever could on their own. Killer and Horror chose to stick with Nightmare for there own reasons, with Killer just wanting to cause more genocide routes, and Horror hungry for all the food the multiverse had to offer. Part 3: At this point Nightmare has set up a base of operations in the Anti Void, made possible by a tentative alliance with Error Sans. Killer and Horror were free to traverse the multiverse thanks to Nightmare's powers to cause chaos. The two eventually found themselves in a Dusttale universe, and ended up helping Dust permanently stopping his world's Chara and player. The three didn't necessarily like each other, but they felt a kinship due to their incredibly dark origins. Not too long after, the player and Chara with the DELETE button found themselves to Dust's world. After a first go around, the trio of Sans's were each about to die, and were only alive by stealing the machine that brought the two to Dust's world, and returning it to the universe where it came from. Meanwhile Nightmare recruited Insanity Sans and brought him to the Anti Void. Part 4: It was there that the trio met the Gaster who gave Chara and the player the DELETE button. He explained that the two double crossed him, and instead used the DELETE button solely for themselves, and fed themselves knowledge on the universes they destroyed rather then giving it to him. He can't stop them out of fear that they'd kill him with how much power they have. It's because of their new found knowledge that allowed Chara to tell the player how to build a replica of Gaster's machine, and show up in the universe the four were currently in to kill them all. Now with a goal much higher then merely to destroy, the Murder Time Trio face off against Chara and the player in the normal Undertale universe to decide the fate of reality. Part 5: Good Ending The MTT kill by Chara and the player after. They then kill that world's Gaster for causing all that mess and return to Nightmare, as well as get acquainted with Insanity. They now travel the multiverse together and cause doom to any who cross them. Part 5: Bad Ending Horror gets killed via the DELETE button. Sensing the influx of negative emotions from the Undertale universe the MTT were fighting in, Nightmare interjected and sent Insanity to help Dust and Killer. Nightmare himself didn't wish to fight because even he wasn't strong enough to kill that specific Chara and player, and opted instead to have his minions do the dirty work. Despite going through all their phases, the MTT and that world's Gaster were killed, and Nightmare decided to go and recruit other evil Sans's for his goals. Chara then takes the soul of the player due to them no longer requiring their help, and continue to travel the multiverse using the DELETE button.
