There’s nothing lazy about the 3D in this anime, it’s just a different technique. Even when they use mo-cap as references for the dance, the animators still manually hand fix the facial features, poses and the flow of the clothes etc of the 3d model rig and animate in threes or twos frames - just like doing hand drawn animation. For the facial features they even animate in ones, they do not use auto generated interpolations. It’s just as time consuming or more so than drawing by hand as rarely does TV anime draw in ones.
@@danielschiller6108 You are the joke cos it's obvious you don't know anything about 3d animation, or animation in general. The creators of this show gave an indepth interview of how they "rig" this live in a magazine, tldr it's animated like stop motion animation and the movement is not computer generated like mocap is in the games. The facials are hand morphed frame by frame, each idol's movement is hand adjusted so they aren't completely in sync so they look more like anime instead of a 3D game with copy/pasted standard models, they spent hours doing it and it is not lazy.
