I watched the first 3 episodes. it was decent. I'm more of a Shoujo person anyway but the buildup was kinda slow and I didn't feel the need too keep watching it.

Is is a political anime, but compared to, for example, politics in Shadows House and Schwarzesmarken, where the characters befriend each other against each other, use the details of the environment to their advantage, and even manage to make their opponents worse off even before leaving the scene. This is amazing politics. What is politics in UBW? Well, they just go around and talk, occasionally clashing with each other. There is no build-up for every fight, they happen out of nowhere. The show does not maintain any tension and is just boring. One of the most boring shows I've seen, among with Vinland Saga and Magia Record s1. UBW is just Magia Record+.

And good grief can you tell they liked Megalobox and Aggretsuko a bit much? The only category that actually looked pretty good was the nominee list for Japanese voice acting and the list for Best Boy. The rest were half good and half BS. I don't think that the other shows will break out of the "generic OP"-boundaries and Kokkoku's OP is suprisingly good in succeeding with the attempt, it is nearly perfect. In the end you can't decide which is "best" because it always depends on the personal preferences and taste. ;)

Please do elaborate what about it is "mediocre" because so far its doing its exposition well, from multiple sources who aren't 100% experts themselves so there's room for info growth. There's a good amount of drama and world building. We have no dumb teenage antics/humor. Only real complaint (which is minor) is that they really need to do their previews better. Since its pointless to have cliffhangers when you show that so-said character is doing alright in the preview.
