Incredible work. The refining process is insane, but the end result makes it so worth it. Stellar video. How long have you been doing this for? I have so many questions haha
This was so pleasing to watch. :D I wish I'd had known or knew someone who knows about handling epoxy resin. Seeing the process...I see now why the butterfly I attempted to preserve turned into dust in that little box. I had even sealed or at least tried to seal any airflow that may have entered, but I was about 10 years old and didn't know acetone or any other chemical that was needed for the butterfly to keep it's shape. Very informative!!! Thank you for uploading!! :D
@@4Makeit so it is a queen. european hornet queens look impressive when they fly by. and they are a bit smaller. the wings create a hum at the frequency of a razor, so its about 50 beats per second i wonder what the giant hornet queen would sound like. probably lower frequency but louder.
There are tons of what we refer to as Japanese giant sparrow bees (it’s not really a hornet it’s a bee category in Japan) as it’s native to Japan originally and in mountain remote side you would see it easily. I used to run for my life when it got close like 5 meters away. People die from it when it stings. Surprisingly even these giant sparrow bees have a place in the Japanese ecosystem in nature. They’re said to have great pest controls and eats pests in mountainous areas. These are killers for Japanese honey bees. But they’re all part of ecosystem.
I have two of these that were on my grandfather's dest when I was eight years old, back in 1961, and they are in hemispheres. They are so beautiful. I'm 70 now, and will leave them to my kids.
Very well done! I have some cleared-and-stained fish embedded in epoxy that I need to sand, I just learned from you how to do that. Thank you! Excellent video.
This is an amazing work. Would it be possible to make it as perfectly spherical as possible to avoid light refraction on the edges? That would be one hell of a way to display specimens.
@@Platinumcoated Now that you mention it... Yes, it would, wouldn't it? I guess the spherical resin would make it look bent all the time. Good point, thank you.
