That's right. Singapore basically do not like a social class system. Rich or poor, we enjoy eating at cheap hawker centres for example. Some new immigrants bring their caste mentality here. That is frown upon. Also leave the bad habits behind and new immigrants will be welcome.
Putonghua aka Mandarin isn't our mother tongue. It's just a political construct. My great grandparents, grandparents and parents couldn't even speak or understand that! If the language isn't our mother tongue, why do we have to use that when communicating with you?
People don't look down on you because you're poor. They look down on you because of your attitude, character and the fact that you create problems in other countries.
We are what we are ,we are not mainland Chinese. We are Singaporeans. China 🇨🇳 is China 🇨🇳 Singapore is Singapore 🇸🇬. You must make it clear, when ever you want to talk about Singapore and China relations.
@hjw2405 If a Thai Chinese ( Thailand 🇹🇭 has the highest number Chinese than any country in the world ) says, Thailand 🇹🇭 is Thailand 🇹🇭, China 🇨🇳 is China 🇨🇳. What fruit are you going to call them ??????thanks
My china brother.. As a singaporean.. I have some views to share. As a chinese.. We r come from a same Forefather. But in terms of Nationality.. We belong to 2 different countries.. This is the facts and reality. At times we really have negative vibes of some of yr countrymen. Firstly u guys tok loudly and love to address our country as 坡县。。 U guys may find it a harmless joke but to us.. We find it otherwise. Of course not all China folks behave the same way.. There r others who r fine too. But the fact is the different cultures that we have may cause some tension between us and it is inevitable.
Singapore is a multi -racial society and we live together in harmony, because we practice respect. Anyone who joins should try to adapt and integrate. If one insist his old ways of living against the social norm and then name it as discrimination if met with disapproval, this is not right.
My younger brother's wife is from Shenyang, and they live in luxury in Shenzhen. Do you think she'll get to enjoy this kind of life without my brother? She is so much more inferior compared with my brother who went to the best schools and universities. She's materialistic and crafty. No matter how hard she tries, she's just NOT one of us!
SG is only 58 yo, many still have Chinese culture passed on by predecessors which still exists Saving Face,Elitist or Feudalist, Preference Male Child to Female,Chinese Cuisine, Chinese language or dialects etc
@@Kola833 Sg may be 58 year old but the people have lived in this island longer than that under different names. The chinese culture has eroded along with time. I think you are still living in China.
Not many PRCs are as enlightened and well travelled like you. Good job to discover the nuances and details of the different countries including Singapore. Keep it up
Sensitive topic, not easy to present in a short video like you did. You are genuinely truthful in your words and thus presented the topic very well. You have my full respect! 🫡
