Cab view of Keikyu Corporation's Zushi Line from Zushi-Hayama Station to Kanazawa-Bunko Station.
I uploaded the same trip to • 京浜急行金沢八景→逗子・葉山前面展望
but this time I went in the opposite direction and improved the image quality. This is a short trip of about 10 minutes.
The line opened in 1930. Since then, there have been few changes, except for the location of the stations around Zushi-Hayama Station. When the line opened, the area around Zushi Station was a resort area near the sea, but now it is in the commuting area of Tokyo. However, due to its traditional character, the land prices are higher in this area.
The Zushi Line is treated as one of the Keikyu Corporation's branch lines, and many express trains run there, mainly to Haneda Airport. Keihin Kyuko has limited express and rapid express trains that are ranked higher than express trains, and in this video, the limited express train precedes the other at Kanazawa-Hakkei Station. Since the limited express trains go directly to the city center instead of to Haneda Airport, many passengers change trains here.
On the Zushi Line, there is a dual-gauge section north of Jinmu-ji Station. This is used to send (ship) trains made by a train manufacturer between Kanazawa-Hakkei Station and Kanazawa-Bunko Station. Looking at the video, the inner 1067mm gauge rails are rusty and do not seem to be used very often. The gauge of Keikyu is 1435mm.
The Zushi Line branches off from Kanazawa-Hakkei, and this video covers the line up to Kanazawa-Bunko Station, one stop away. In this section, the train manufacturer is on the left and the Keihin Kyuko depot is on the right, making it very busy to look at the scenery from the train window. July 2024

Hi 14 Ikesan. Another one of your fascinating videos. I get a kick out of the weeds getting ahead of the track gang's weed whackers. We don't have that kind of problem in most of the US. We don't have the same kind of humidity that you do. I enjoyed that stretch of dual gauge track. Your explanation certainly got my interest. I enjoy learning that sort of thing. Thanks again for an interesting video.

Thank you for your comment. Keihin Express Railway (Keikyu) has relatively high morals among its railway workers, but they can't keep up with the summer weeds. Summer in Japan is hot and humid, and it's hard for us Japanese to deal with it. Trevor Bauer, a pitcher who played in Japan last year, said, "I have experience in Arizona." It's true that it may not be as hot as Arizona.

A German saying goes: "Brevity is the soul of wit..." That's why the short running time of the video is not a bad thing at all! A very interesting line and journey in the best film quality - especially the three-rail track: in front of Mutsuura station, the third track changes from the right edge of the main track to the left... 🤔 and behind the station back again, each time via interesting switch connections! I can imagine that this is to maintain the distance to the platform so that the vehicles with the smaller track width don't get stuck on it (clearance profile)... At the end, the 1067mm track goes off to the left, probably not that many vehicles are produced, hence the rusty track. And for me as a European, of course, there is a lot to discover next to the track, such as a fire engine at the end or a road construction site 👍

Thank you for your comment. A fire truck! I don't often get the chance to see one either, so it made me a little happy. Modern fire trucks are smart. I spoke to someone who actually drives one, and he told me that fire trucks have a short service life. That's because these trucks are only used when they're in "100% or 0" condition. The Zushi Line is a short line lacking in special character, but it is notable for having a dual-gauge section and for the remaining forest belt beyond Jinbutsu-ji Station (on the left side of this image), which is not visible in the cab view.
