I study Choy Li Fut and Chen Tai Chi. Great applications on single whip. Even after years of training I'm still seeing different applications for single whip. Also, I know I've said this before, but I want to say it again, thank you so much for the English subtitles. You're maybe one of 2 channels in all of RU-vid that show applications of Chinese martial arts.
Great insights into Chen style single whip. It's one of those Taiji movements that can have many applications. It would be interesting to see comparison between the main styles like Yang, Wu, Hao and Sun. I practise mainly Yang style, Cheng Man-Ch'ing style variation, and my understanding and practice of single whip has changed several times over the years. I recently began learning from another teacher, who has almost 50 years experience. He has opened my eyes to many things and single whip is one of them. It has taken me a few months to get used to the new way of doing single whip. It is quite different to the Chen style, as you know, but I believe the principles of Taiji movements are the same for all styles. It seems the variations manifest externally, but the internal work depends on each practitioner and what level of knowledge and experience they have and what their objectives are.
thank you very much for your video, and the subtitles really help a lot. did you study under Ma Hong? i notice that you like using his style in your training.
Yes Jon, I was lucky enough to study and perfect all the Chen style Diyi Lu with him. What the teacher asked live is different from what you see in the videos. The important things pass from person to person. And they stay forever. 🙏🏽
