大阪南港の人工島（咲洲）の中央部に位置する高層住宅地で、街のほぼ中央を南港ポートタウン線（ニュートラム）が横断している。
南港エリアの住宅街であり学校や商業施設が集中しているエリアです。
また南港ポートタウンショッピングセンターを核とした商業施設があり、住人の生活を支えています。
近年は人口が減少し住人の高齢化も進んでおり、今後の行政による取り組みが課題となっている。
