1st when the BMS cut off, the car will not stall, because the alternator will supply all current/voltage to the car. Also when the car start to run, there will hardly any current draw from the batteryr. I suggest you add a super capacitor to stabilise the alternator voltage when the BMS cut/disconnect the battery. Also add a TVS diode to the alternator to protect the alternator rectifier for current surge appear when the battery is cutting off by the BMS due to induction (back emf). Good Luck
@@taiwango2020 Hi, by right your BMS should cut off. When your car is running, the charging current from alternator is from 50 amp to 100amp plus, something can go as high as 150amp, so your battery will be full in no time. Also once the car started, the car will draw current from the alternator, instead of the battery. If your BMS did not cut off and keep charging, that mean your Lifepo4 battery is alway at 99% to 100% full and it is not healthy for lifepo4 always stay at fully charged state. I set my BMS to cut off charging voltage at 13.9v ( so when the BMS cut off, the battery voltage is read around near to13.4V which is around 90% full ), and I only start recharge when battery voltage fall below 13.1V ( battery around 50%). So my battery will fluctuating between 90% to 50%. If your battery is alway stay at 99% full, Your duty cycle will greatly and surly reduce. I am not sure what BMS you use. I am using one that can view live data with XiaoXiang App. The reason I am using lifepo4 battery as a starter battery, it is because I has 3 car cams running 24/7 when parking.
@@taiwango2020 This is the problem, lifepo4 is a current hurry beast, if you don't set cut off voltage for the battery, it will keep drawing high current form the alternator, it may overheat your alternator rectifiers and cause it to burn out. Lastly, if you going to use Lifepo4 battery as starter battery, get a BMS with Bluetooth function with live data so you can set and tweak the settings.
