My dad, Prof. Ca Chit, visited Mr. Parng’s grave in 1941. He wrote a poem in memory of Mr. Parng: Master, you have great knowledge in ancient texts, Shrewd in talent, far exceeding the talent of a County officer; You messed up trifles in your office, Was it really because you loved alcohol?
This is my guess of the poem: 大师韬略深,才具超县丞。不理小衙事,其真爱酒醇?At your father's time, in general they have a lot deeper knowledge in traditional Chinese culture.
