One of the best songs by Hacken Lee. Everything worked well. I really can't imagine this song being better sung nor having better arrangement. Doing more would make the song lose its soft and peaceful essence. Excellent all around! Kudos to Hacken Lee and the orchestra and the composer to this amazing song 🙌🏻💕👍🏻
The song on this video was sung many years ago, so you can’t judge on the arrangement compared to now. This singer, Hacken Lee is good. You’ve to understand Cantonese to appreciate this and not compared to Western pop songs. Music arrangements on Chinese and English songs are very different. I’m not a huge fan on the critics.
yeah he not even understand the meaning of the song because chinese is not that easy than you think and now is live singing not listen to orchestral. you should paid attention to the singer and the way he singing.
Don’t take it personally… the 2 guys are actually quite good… they bounce off each other…. Joes a musician from what I can tell and is actually really informative in his analysis…. He’s not attacking or saying anything demeaning…. If you watch their previous vids…
What Joe wanted to say was that it was a waste to have the orchestra there yet not fully utilising it, the piano playing the same way for too long made it sound monotonous, and as a result the music never hit climax.
7:42 Can't be helped. Many C-Pop singers sang like that in the 80's and early 90's. 7:58 Correct. When you sing live in a concert hall (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bfhvrz-13YQ.html nice segway into Hacken's "One Take Concert Hall" series, even with no audience), vibrato isn't just used for dramatic effect, but to me: It's used a lot just to increase volume. 9:22 The view count was low FOR THIS VERSION because it was quite a quiet concert, plus the fact that the song is such a classic that it's almost inappropriate to "reinvent the wheel".
Clearly, Joe couldn't appreciate the lyrics. However, most of western musicians aren't used to Chinese music as such, no beat, no sophisticated arrangement. But as 王力宏 said before, the Chinese love songs are of its own charms.
