I once rented a room to a PRC student. When I happened to look in his room once because I had to repair the door lock, I was taken aback by how messy it was. When he finally vacated the room, the white toilet bowl in his attached bathroom was coated with a disgusting brown scale deposit inside - probably because he had never cleaned the toilet in the whole year he had stayed there! I can’t imagine what his personal hygiene must have been like. Fortunately, I was able to clean off the brown scale deposit using hydrochloric acid for cleaning mosaic. Never again.🥶
Same finding here, they didn't use any cleansing agent at all. I think it's because everything is much more expensive aboard than in their home country, so they ere trying to save as much as possible
My father rented out a room to an 18yo Chinese boy who was from Zhejiang & was studying for his electronic engineering boy in S'pore. A few months down the road, he accidentally pee on the mattress while sleeping. My father tried to clean the mess on the mattress but was in vain. He angrily asked the boy to help him to carry the dirty mattress to throw it away, without charging him for the soiled mattress. I'm shocked to hear that an 18yo youth would pee on his mattress!
Notice that a good number of tenants have a common altitude - “if I have paid for the monthly rental, I can treat it as a hotel stay”. They expect the room to be cleaned and tidied by the landlord on a daily basis! Abusive snob!
I had a china lady tenant, an adult working in SG. She was sharing room with another Malaysian lady. So this china lady, changed her sanitary pad in the enclosed room, left it open in the open trash bin in the room. Her blood was everywhere, from bedsheet to her nightgown. She didn't care. Her roomie came to me complaining and threw up from the stench. Miss China Lady left 3 fan turn on, all blowing to her empty bed when she left for work. She kept sugar and fruits in her cupboard. Ants and roaches infested the room. These are just ONE of those minor thing she did. From then on, I'll never rent to another China lady. When HDB questioned me, I told her all the wonderful things this lady did to my room, the officer jaw dropped. It's amazing what goes through their brain.
Agreed. I once went with a friend who does house cleaning to the customer’s house to do house cleaning. I was shocked by the filths inside the house. Rotten food left sitting on the coffee table in the living room and bedroom. Dog poop was left undisturbed the carpet. The bathrooms were especially disgusting. Brown stained toilets and the shower stalls. Totally gross. I think the couple who lived there hadn’t cleaned the house since the day they moved in. I can’t believe people can live like that. The couple was from China.
Thanks for sharing the experience, sorry you have to put up with these situations. I have heard similar horror stories about Chinese youngsters. How could they live in rooms in such conditions.
In Singapore every able bodied male had to undergoes at least two years of National Service. During these two years you have to be very disciplines and co-operates with your teammates or else you will be punishes according. Let me stress that punishments was humane just to make them realise that their actions will jeopardise others. Most parents will see a better side of their sons after they have completed their service.
No wonder all those china reno tv show are filled with filthy houses. Give them so new also no use. One of the vid did a follow up after 1 yr and it's already messier than handover day. My experience in china atudent exchange also yuck. For real saw kids pooping out on the streets with adults at the side. 6-8 ppl in 1 room. Our room is 2pax but was damn dusty n yucky I cleaned for about an hour. 🙄 Why your sub keep getting it wrong. It's home stay not state or whatever .....
I think family education is very very important coz they are actually a role model for their kids to learn rather than relying to Schools or Institutions, however, the root caused of the issue normally created from the parents or relatives so if the relevant authority or .... could look into these areas and address issues, I personally think such matters can be improved.
