May you be blessed with peace and joy.
今天跟各位講給人接受
Today I'll speak about
being readily accepted by others.
這句話很好懂
This is a sentence easy to understand
但是不容易做到
but difficult to carry out.
我們在世間上做人
In regards to being a
human being in the world,
這做人最重要的一件事是什麼事
what's the most important thing?
不是穿新衣服
It's not having new clothes,
吃珍饈美味
eating delicious food,
住好的房子
living in a nice house,
有金錢、有汽車
being wealthy, or owning a car
這個是沒有用
as those things are not primary.
最重要的是
The most important thing is
你在這個世間上做人
that when you interact with people,
要給人接受
what you do
is readily accepted by others.
人家怎麼樣才能接受你
What do you do
to be accepted by people?
我又不認識你
I don't know you,
好像你要和我做朋友
but you want to be my friend,
讓我接受你
and you want me to accept you.
我說是我的朋友
You want me to accept you
as a friend,
我們是老鄉
or accept you as my compatriot.
讓我承認你是我的應該同鄉
You want me to recognize you
as my compatriot.
你跟我是同學
You and me are classmates.
我承認你是我的同學、我的朋友
I see you as my classmate, my friend,
甚至我的家人
even my family.
有的時候家人彼此不接受
Even sometimes family members
don't accept each other.
兄弟鬩牆
Brothers argue with each other.
父子脫離關係
Father and son become strangers.
家裡面的什麼親朋好友
Even it's my friends and relatives,
我不承認你
I do not accept them.
我不承認有這門親戚
I don't accept my family.
我不承認你這個人
I don't recognize you,
他不接受你
and you don't accept me.
為什麼
Why?
你必定有缺點、缺陷
You have your own faults and flaws.
有對他不起
You did something bad to him.
對他不利、對他不好
You took advantage of him
or hurt him.
他不要你
He therefore doesn't want you.
你要他接受你
If you want him to accept you,
你必須你要很有禮貌
you must be polite.
對人要稱呼、要客氣、要有禮節
You must be polite, friendly
and courteous.
禮貌到了他接受你
If you are polite, he'll accept you.
你做事要很勤勞
You must be diligent,
他覺得你工作很勤奮
and he'll think you work hard.
做事很正派
You are righteous,
他接受你
so he accepts you:
我替你介紹這個職業
let me introduce you to a great job.
我要升你的官
I want to promote you.
我要給你高的位置
I want to put you in a higher position.
所以我們一個人要人家接受
Thus how to be accepted by others?
必須自己所謂忠、孝、仁、愛
We must have loyalty, piety,
benevolence and affection,
信、義、和、平
honesty, righteousness, harmony and equality.
儒家所謂禮義廉恥、四維八德
Confucians value propriety, justice, honesty,
honor, four anchors and eight virtues.
你有了人家就接受你
If you have those values, they accept you.
佛教裡面你要有信仰
You must have a faith in Buddhism.
要三皈、五戒
You need to uphold Triple Gem refuge,
the 5 precepts
你要行十善、六度
and practice 10 virtuous deeds
and 6 paramitas.
你要做好人好事
You have to do good deeds
and be a good person.
知道好人這個很慈悲的人
If he knows you're a nice,
compassionate person,
他就接受你 你很慈悲
he'll accept you as you are very kind.
這個人很老成、很有信仰
If a person is mature and have a faith,
這個人很本分
is well behaved,
這個人很正派
or is upright,
我就很接受
I accept this person.
所以這個世間上好多的人
There are many people in the world
找不到職業
who can't find a job,
或者是說沒有好的因緣
or, they don't have good
causes and conditions.
這不要怪人、怪這個社會不好
Don't blame other people or society.
怪人家不好
Don't blame others.
要檢討自己
We have to ask ourselves:
我有條件嗎
Do I acquire those conditions?
我有給人接受的條件嗎
Am I readily accepted by others?
自己給人家接受的條件
Those conditions are
就是勤奮、禮貌
diligence, courtesy
待人的友愛、負責、擔當
friendliness, responsibility,
勇敢、排難解紛、明理
brevity, helpfulness and sensibility.
人家接受我們了
By then people will accept us,
我們還怕沒有前途嗎
and so we will have a bright future.
