Hi, im one of western fan of Sakura Taisen. Sega should definitely made this game not PS4 ekslusive, in our region those kind of games tends to sell very poorly on Playstation 4. We playing ,,anime games'' mostly on PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch. And second most important thing - release date. I don't know what Sega thinked but release this game only PS4 in the same month with: Final Fantasy VII Remake, Persona 5 Royal, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Trials of Mana Remake was terrible idea. This game was basically dead on arrival in our region. Everyone in those days played Persona 5 Royal, or Final Fantasy VII Remake. Marketing was also very weak. One positive thing of Shin Sakura Taisen is fan translations. After release this game fans translated into English: Sakura Taisen 1 (Saturn version), Sakura Taisen Columns 2, Sakura Taisen GB, and fans now ending translate Sakura Taisen 2 (Saturn version). There will be also fan translation patch for Sakura Taisen 3 (Dreamcast version) and Sakura Taisen GB2, so it is only matter of time we will have all those games avalaible in English. This means there is SOME interest in this series in West, and Sega should definitely not give up due to one failure.
Thanks for commenting. You've been very helpful in letting me know how well it's selling in the western . Hopefully the enthusiasm of the fans will reach Sega.
