I love it when LKY said China building 2 coal power plants every week are not green power / environmental friendly. And explaining that China is determined to lead the world in solar energy at a loss or heavily subsidised rate. Singapore being small, every decision or investment is calculated using cost-benefit analysis.
its obvious arrogance asking for slapping. the mayor could have just said effort in clean energy hopefully singapore can follow suit. respect is given but face is ownself thrown away
Cheap is because the Chinese government is subsidizing their entire solar industries….to export and flood the global market. Same with EV cars and other industries the Government is handling out money to compete with the world.
Probably now. When he said that, not yet. This was more than a decade ago based on the reply I got. So he is very visionaire to understand what the world will become
Nothing visionary. It is pure simple economics. Existing versus alternative distilled down to per unit costs of power output. Not rocket science and certainly nothing visionary.
How would the Mayor know that Singapore has more cloudy days, not enough money etc?? And since he did not know, he ought to ask so that he can learn. And so he sought to learn from LKY. What is wrong? And what is your problem?
@@chinchang5117 He is a mayor, he should make it his job to research some info about Singapore before asking in public. Didn't you listen in between the lines that his answer was a put down to the mayor, some of the audience laughter showed they too, understood the situation. It back fired on the Mayor. So what is your problem that you are so affronted, when I agree with others that he is simply advertising his own self, which is typical of most CCP officials. What is your problem, that you just had to wave your Mao's Little Red Book. Streisand effect , is your problem, that you feel so chafed when his boastfulness was being called out in public for all posterity. He is a Mayor, and yet LKY, had to educate him on the facts of solar powers propaganda of China, that the Mayor is pushing. Isn't it embarrassing that LKY, had to educate the Mayor , he cannot pull wools over LKY 's eyes, which LKY unlike this mayor, made it his business to know about the world economics ,political agendas of every country, etc. For LKY, to educate him on what's going on inside China, to an international audience. His own country also don't know what's going on..?. Then he is an ineffectual mayor, seeking promotion of himself. Typical Red Troll. ' Don't touch Me!' If you don't know this phrase look that up as well
It's not an issue with cloudy days per se; rather, it's more of a space constraint issue. Solar farms require a lot of land to set up and Singapore doesn't have it.
Please do some reading before you make a fool of yourself! Solar energy can generate power on any rainy day with heavy cloud as well. Why? Look it up, please!
@deschan2246 LKY is well known throughout the world. His books sell by the millions and are translated into many many languages. Maybe, just maybe you could be the only foreigner who don't know who LKY is. Invest some time and read his books and you will be enlightened.
