This video got me into playing Touhou. After 2 years and 9 months of playing, I have reached my dream goal of clearing this game with the same amount of deaths and bombs as GIL did on this video. Thanks for the upload.
@devilstar690 If I understood your question... The song playing during the level is "The Young Descentant of Tepes", and the one playing against the boss Remilia is "Septette for the Dead Princess".
@lovlymoney I think on the Touhou wiki page for this game, there's a patch that you can download that will show this. It also changes the graphics of a few things.
Looks like lunatic mode; the description says it too (runatikku). You're right that there are ways to slow the frame rate down greatly when playing, then bump it up to normal for the replay. Some of those dodges make me think that's what's going on here too. Especially with Marisa, who is already very fast and difficult to control.
The only thing more amazing than this video is being able to do this yourself. But even though I can beat this game on this difficulty, I'll get close to the amount of skill GIL has.
As someone who plays at this level, I'd say it's not AS hard as it looks, but it takes a special kind of skill to play. Good reflexes, dexterity, and memorization are needed.
@ThePwnKage Nope. UFO andSA at least have hit boxes. =D Question: how did you figure out Orin's stage and fight in SA anyway? It's been bugging me while trying to do 1cc runs and it always stops me. (want to fight Koishi real bad.) I somehow beat Mokou in IN and finally got to Suwako in MoF. but that one level in SA keeps messing with me.
@wong2008a It makes you move slower and also changes the way you shoot slightly. In other games, you can also see your hitbox so you can dodge more easily
Obviously you have yet to face the lunatic version, A.K.A undisputed hardest spell card in the series. In my literally 180 or so attempts to capture Scarlet Meister I have captured Scarlet Gensokyo about 6 times in the process. I have yet to beat Scarlet Meister. How GIL did this in the video boggles the mind.
there are like 50 games of this genre in japan, with varying difficulty. this one just happens to be as hard as the other 4 specific games (none of them made to america, so I don't know the name)
Maxxed rank Lunatic Scarlet Gensokyo and Scarlet Meister are just...inhuman. YOu can see a much noticable difference in the bullet density once GIL dies to Gensokyo.
@TheLegendTamer i think that would make it easier.. most of the time you get hit when theres spam everywhere. aimed bullets are easier to dodge because you can misdirect them.
This isn't hacked or slowed. This is a legit run of the hardest difficulty by a well known Japanese super-player. Even if he is hacking, beating this level this well (or better!) has been done provably legitimately by a number of players.
@nousername42 Hahaha, :) Well, it's good right? I still haven't even beaten EoSD on any difficulty yet, since i didn't play it a lot these days. I will try to beat it on Normal soon, though. So i can, hopefully, access Extra stage.
i hear that there was another difficulty that gil cleared... it was harder than lunatic... i think it has to do something with the rank system... dunno... i only heard about it
Ivan Ong Was not a bomb. Was lost life. Scarlet gensyoko is a godly attack. This was his only lost life, no bombs, in Gil's near perfect runthrough of EoSD. Amazing job, so close
@shadowrundas i know right ! I'm stuck at the fckin motherbrain level its been like 2 years now i just gave up but still have the save file somewhere on my computer ^^
