derpsire53 PC-98 canon and Windows canon are two different things. Windows canon is the official current canon going forward from EoSD. Whatever happened before EoSD is confined to PC-98 canon or a mystery (like the "vampire incident" that led to the establishment of the Spellcard Rules, which happened before EoSD but wasn't in any prior games,) unless specifically identified by ZUN (i.e. Reimu in PoFV stating "that incident" ended when she beat Yuuka.) Characters like Mima and Shinki are not part of Windows canon unless they appear or are mentioned in Windows canon (there is one brief reference to a ghost haunting the Hakurei shrine at one point, but that's as close to canon as Mima has gotten post-EoSD.) Yuuka and Alice made the jump because A. they are popular and B. they are beloved by god (ZUN.)

countrybluegrass Also, Shinki is KINDA mentioned in UFO... Well at least Makai is. I guess we just have to wait for the upcoming games until we can see if any PC-98 characters make a re-appearance. But it's like people saying Yumemi or Mima should return. I've also seen some people hope for Elly to return, just because the original Bad Apple!! was her stage theme. Honestly, if Shinki or Mima we going to return, it'd probably be Shinki. Think about it, she appeared in Mystic Square only, and that game came right before EoSD. She's have more a chance than Mima, but Mima WAS playable in nearly all the PC-98 games... It's up to fandom, I guess. But maybe a game (Touhou 15, which NOW we know will be another 2 games until that... Thanks Touhou 14.3.) like 'A Blast to the Past' can happen, and all the characters that people want to see again could come back! That'd be cool ... (Also, we'd see them in the new art style, which would be AWESOME. Imagine Mima or Shinki in a photography game like Double Spoiler or a fighting game like Hopeless Masquerade. Or just a regular game. Or something like 14.3, Impossible Spell Card. Which I think sucks, I have the game. Why Seija for the playable charcter?)

Reimu, Marisa, Alice, and Yuuka still exist because ZUN's allowed to do what the fuck he wants with his games. Notice how Kurumi, Orenji, Elly, Mima, pretty much EVERYONE from Touhou 1-5 besides those specific four never made it into the Windows Eras. Any entrance that ZUN would give Mima would be incredibly forced. :(
