Agree some time even worse they will put suggest to tipping based on final price that include tax and service and the meal fees you consume. This is way too much. Why should we tip tax ? This happens in east coast. Not just restaurants Uber eats or door dash seem to suggest tipping percent not on food your orders but also tipping on tax and service fees As inflation already triggers meals cost thus tipping is already boost as meals price go high with existing tipping percentage 15 or 20 or etc I don’t get it why tip percentage go up 18/20/25 or more worse from existing standard 15/20. Tipping now trends to be an increasingly issue The part arguing most to me why recipes have legal rights to put any suggested Tipping and tip on tax and why there is no law to prevent it. Insane and I am also ignoring it and 15 lunch/20 dinner really good service at dinner maybe 20/25 . No tip with to go unless I order a lot
I have lived and had worked in the Silicon Valley for over 40 years in the semiconductor industry as an equipment engineer. I am actually amazed that a new grad in software can earn over 200K. This level of salary in my industry would have taken someone 10 years as an staff engineer to achieve back in 2210. As semiconductor industry began to outsource to other foundries, many technical jobs were slowly disappearing which eventually cost me the job that I had for 16 years. In 2210, property value and the cost of living in the the Silicon Valley (bay area) were still considered higher than the rest of the country but still comfortably manageable for someone like me. Today, 95% of the semiconductor companies had disappeared from the Silicon Valley map. Despite the rise of AI and App industries, which have added thousands of good paying jobs, a lot of buildings were unfilled and remain empty, subsequently succumb to the bulldozer to make room for new condos. This Vlog is very informative good job!
200K ~ 250K basic pay is way too much for a new CS graduate (undergraduates). Most of my friends graduated in 2022 was offered 150K basic pay for a software engineer jobs in Bay area.
What people outside the industry don't realize is that the big tech companies give a decent amount of equity, that's why the total comp is higher than if you went to some small medium sized company.
If you hate paying taxes, instead of onboarding as an employee, start contracting at startups with your own business entity. Small business tax in Canada is 11% up to 500k. plus you can deduct a whole lot of things as business expenses.
There are too many unprofitable tech companies in Bay Area. They are paying new college grad $250k a year. Many people making less $100k are living paycheck to paycheck.
