Re-starting the F22 production line after more than a decade is highly unrealistic, or put simply, IMPOSSIBLE! I don't know why some people keep bringing up this pipedream. You might as well say (and some do) that we should also start producing the F23 or make a Super Tomcat F14x....The US will likely just keep upgrading the F22 until the NGAD actually enters service (assuming they don't cancel it), though there is a limit to how many hours the airframe can be extended. You can change the radars, add more electronics, upgrade the computers and software, and even switch to a more powerful or efficient engine, but the airframe is the main problem--F22 has to do violent maneuvers, unlike the B52 (which is still around after more than 60 years).
