I doubt that. Japan in ww2 when developing the Shinden were a bit more desperate, and the shinden would have continued testing and redesigning until it was perfect. Also, the primary reason for the xp-55 failing was the same reason why the xp-54 did: The engine they planned on using’s production stopped, so they were forced to use a far less powerful one, which resulted in worse performance. The Shinden did not have this problem, but it did have some other developmental issues and just didn’t have enough time.
