青海魂 The Spirits of Qinghai by CCO Woodwind & Percussion [6 May 2012] 

Performed during the CCO Concert Verdant Dreams《鼓吹狮城》on 6 May 2012, at Dunman High School Performing Arts Centre, Singapore.
This is a traditional song depicting a long battle, which occurred in the Qinghai province of China during the Tang dynasty. The war, which lasted for years, led to a tragic ending, with both sides suffering from the loss of thousands of soldiers. In this piece, the composer combines the tension and excitement of the Chinese percussion with the grand and tragic melodies of the woodwinds to express the powerful emotions and feelings of battle.
这是一首反映"日暮云沙古战场"的民族器乐曲。唐时代的青海地区，素来是吐蕃与唐军频繁作战的场所，连年征战，民不聊生。战争的结果是："年年战骨埋荒外"（李颀），"由来征战地，不见有人还"（李白）。在这首作品中，作曲家将打击乐的铿锵明快和吹管乐的高亢悲凉相揉和，描绘了"出征"，"苦战"，"悲魂" 等生动感人的场面。
