Un-freakin-believable! He seems to break every rule of basic art construction. No construction lines, no reference that we can see. He just starts with a detail and blows the picture out from there, all in correct proportion and perspective. Amazing. All I can think is that he has practiced from reference many, many times before and can see the image he wants in his minds eye and then mentally project that image onto the canvas where he basically traces over the image he sees with the brush. The last time I saw someone draw like this it was in a documentary about savants.

+Jeremy “Valca79” Randerson I'm just guessing here but some sections of the video you can see him walk out of the frame and back several times. even if he had references this man is still un-fukin-believable
@RaiceGeriko
@RaiceGeriko 8 лет назад
+Jeremy “Valca79” Randerson I don't know that he's using references - he might be. But, I don't think he planned this before hand. I think he's just going with the flow and doing what feels right at the moment. But, I mean... you've seen in this video and several others the kinds of things he draws. Every illustration has at least 50 people in it. He's drawn people in so many poses so many times before... I mean it just becomes an afterthought. How many times do you need to practice playing a song on a piano before you no longer need sheet music? It's the same thing here. When you know something... you know it. I'd imagine his mechanical work is the same. He usually draws a lot of vehicles and stuff of that nature.
@Hyptosis
@Hyptosis 8 лет назад
Yeah, he skips SO MUCH foundation stuff. I think, and this isn't a cop out, he might have one of those genius brains that just 'gets it'. Like, he can see the final product without building it up to understand it.
@ShadowCross666
@ShadowCross666 7 лет назад
There was an interview with him and they asked how he got to the level that he is at and he explained that he draws at every moment he gets, but he draws them till he can do it by memory. He brought up an example like a cat, he would draw the anatomy of the cat from skeletal to muscular, in every possible view point to understand it fully. He would also go out and just sit in one place drawing people, and observing things hours at a time. He admits he is no genius but a firm believer in deliberate practice and doing what you love. He is definitely the epitome of practice makes perfect.

Yeah I also saw that docu I think. A guy drawing a city just from seeing it one time while flying in a helicopter. The only difference is, this guy is actually talented in drawing
@CHOBYMOBBY
@CHOBYMOBBY 9 лет назад
He's an famous artist of Korea. He likes especially Mechanical devices and Guns. So he observed objects and also drew pictures over million times. Over 20years he practiced then he made it. So it's the product of his hard work, not just a fucking talent.
@elpeeko7445

+DH PD - I think there is no such thing as talent. There is only an innate interest in something and then the passion and unending devotion to practice practice practice practice practice to become the master among masters. Regardless of what anyone might call it, this is nothing short of awe inspiring.
@Huyimon
@Huyimon 8 лет назад
+DH PD He also has a photographic memory. Which I'd like to say was *AWAKEN* when he was hit in the head with a baseball as a kid. A photographic memory goes a long way when you're an artist like Kim Jung Gi.
@RaiceGeriko
@RaiceGeriko 8 лет назад
+CaptainReckis Photographic memory is a myth. It has nothing to do with that. He draws a lot. That's it. People look at his work and are mesermized about how he does it like it's some trick or special ability he has, when there's no trick or special power. It is exceptional work with years of practice and learning behind it. What's impressive is his visual library and master craft of the fundamentals. And don't anyone twist up what I'm saying on this. I'm not saying he isn't exceptional. He is a great artist, probably one of the best illustrators of our day right now. But there's no magic mojo. He's just worked very hard at things, and is able to do them with such ease now, that it seems uncanny to the rest of us - even skilled artists.
@Huyimon
@Huyimon 8 лет назад
Viewing having a photographic memory as a myth is more of a belief. Considering how Kim Jung Gi said that he has about 75% - 90% of the image he is about to draw already complete and that he said he has photographic memory. Imma make a confirmation that he has a photographic memory.
@cometpty
@cometpty 8 лет назад
+Winston S. He literally has shown people that it's about understanding perspective and cubes. It's funny watching him explain drawing fundamentals to crowds of people, some of whom think he is a savant or is gifted by divine circumstances and not hard work, which I find incredibly insulting to the artist. Hard work, daily practice and fundamentals aren't even a considered. Even when the evidence of hard work is in his sketchbook collections, specially his 2007 book where it shows a lot of his practice work going back as far as 2000. In his later sketchbooks you will find instances of white out and fixed figure drawings, he still does it btw. So he's not infallible and that doesn't take away from his abilities. Yet, people still like to build mythology around him and other great artists and think there is no hard work involved. It's the same people who want to draw but not doing so because they think they need "talent."

Mr. Kim Jung Gi, on top of having an incredible artistic talent, he also has an amazing photographic memory. Most, if not all, of the world best artists in history, need construction lines and pencils sketches in order to draw things proportionally. Mr. Gi's talent is just mind-blowing. Only the people who have painted and drawn can fully understand how impossible it is to draw the way he drew.

@indiegitalgraphicsvideopro1453
i have this feeling he is a master of drawing as well as astral projection...he draws while his spirit is wandering in some place feeding his mind what he sees outside. it just too unreal drawing from one portion to another then masterfully combined them in one seamless scene in almost perfect angle, perspective and details!

We are so lucky to have such a great artist , teacher,and the master of amazing art . the entire generation will be proud to have this legend . he is the best . But the thing I'd why isn't he famous all around the world like Bob ross or any other artist . According to my assumption his piece without coloured should cost nearly 100,000 But is coloured it will be 1,000,000

I'm late on the ball here but a lot of people say they like drawing and do it an hour per day or so. This dude draws ALL THE TIME and has done forever (according to interviews and just looking at his insta). That coupled with "talent" and a good memory created this. I think people often don't wanna hear "yeah you can get good, start by drawing 8h per day" :) It's like anyone can get abs if they work out often and eat well.
