Watching this I can understand why he was cast in BOF..the original had the male lead with the air of arrogance and musical idol assurance. With the casting of Lee Min Ho, he could pull off the arroagance, but not the assurance of a male idol or the flair needed to hold interest. Kim Hyun Joong however has the assurance that only a life in the music business could bring to the role. He was perfect to add that sparkle needed that would have been missing. He isn't arrogant in life, but the stage presence and flair , his fluid movements, walk, and clear assurance is unmistakable here. Being an idol and the leader of a music group for a few years shows. The original Japanese version wraps it into the male lead, lol. No wonder KHJ's version of Rui was more electric onscreen than the original actor. He is just plain sexy and it shows, lol. In the Japanese version the male lead has the same sex appeal and sparkle the producers needed to find in KHJ. He was a natural fit. :)
