Can’t lie it’s kinda upsetting how team only include Bali island footage to explain Rendang dish. Hoping the team can dig deeper more for the information. Because rendang originally came from other part island of Indonesia, it’s from Sumatra. 😊 It’s still bearable if you under deadline and adding Jakarta footage such as crowds traffic, or the buildings. I can understand that. But just because it’s contain coconut milk as one of the ingredients, doesn’t mean it’s from tropical island (in this case: Bali) 😭 it’s such a shame, like you mentioning kimchi jiggae is originally from Jeju, does it make sense? 😫🫵🏻
Oh dear tvN, in episode 7 at around 28:00 your picture plane didn’t land on Indonesia. It landed in Borneo, an island shared by Malaysia (Sabah & Sarawak) and Brunei Darussalam. The video on coconut milk is incorrect. Coconut milk comes from juicing the white flesh in the coconut. The liquid coming out of the coconut is drinkable and it’s called coconut water. I do agree the lack of ingredients can’t make the food look or taste the same. Likewise the combination of food is not good. But good try.
Kayanya bener deh org luar tau Indonesia itu cuman bali, padahal kan rendang itu masakan padang engga nyalain chefnya tapi editor nya harusnya lebih cari² lagi info rendang asalnya dr Indonesia bagian mana🙏 walaupun masak rendang dgn bahan terbatas tapi chef baek keren sih. Rendang juga gak pake kecap yaaa itu coklat karena dimasak dalam wkt yg sangat lama
Bet they always eat rendang at a Bali tourist restaurant. Saying Indonesia is enough instead of Bali, Indonesia. Because specifically, rendang isn't from Bali and Bali has its own delicacies themselves. It's like saying Bulgogi and Jeju, South Korea.

Tbh I don't really think it is rendang; it is more likely "gulai" or "tongseng." I still have mad respect for Mr. Baek for cooking it in large batches despite limited ingredients and introducing Indonesian food to wider audience. Indonesian cuisine is wonderful, but it needs more exposure and effective marketing in order to gain popularity. Thank you Baekpacker team 🫡🤝🫶
