In my fantasy (a bird thriller about nature's revenge on the Norwegian people), I replaced this wounded Adelie penguin chick with a wounded human girl (and the skeleton of the baby penguin from the photo illustration for the article by New Zealand naturalist Euan Young about skuas - with the skeleton of a human baby, the son of a whaler). I know that northern great skuas and south polar ones are considered different species, but in appearance they are still similar :)
By the way, in the animated series both Adelie chicks, a male Lolo and a female Pepe (best friends, not brother and sister), were saved from the pair of skuas by the kind-hearted polar explorer and his husky puppy Don.
In the scene that's from the time of about 6:42 to 6:45, it actually looks like a clip from late in the breeding season because of all of the poo evidence on the ground. Aside from that though, what's up with the "ditch of death" that the skua's standing in!? I can AT LEAST count 4, maybe 5 of them down there! I could be wrong but I can even see what looks like penguin wings on two of the carcasses. And also an adult penguin next to one of the carcasses who might be a parent mourning it. Lol, I'm not complaining or anything, it's just bizarre.
By the way, the skuas are the most favorite birds for the Russian polar exploers. Once the Soviet polar explorers loved the penguins better, now it has fell upside down.
