I kinda agree that Filipinos are one of the most talented singers in Asia (not whole world). But the lack of training and appreciation from Filipino producers just make things worse for Philippine music. Blacks can go toe to toe against Filipinos. Nowadays, other SEA countries and EA countries make better music than PH. We're clearly being left behind not because we lost the talent but because we prioritize those who can't really sing, even veteran singers say that.

Singing is not only about the high notes, its the complete form and harmony especially if you are doing a duet. Both are good but Charice, gave justice end emotion to the duet.

no comparison here, at 16 Charice became one of the best live singers on the planet and got noticed for her wide range and powerful voice, she was compared to whitney, celine, mariah, beyonce and can sing any song including opera( mezzo soprano ). Charice is a beast... she won this battle, but I guess this was So Hyang's inflection point, she figured out she needed to work on her vocals and focus on her strength, which is probably her range. So Hyang is a much better singer today, and I miss Charice....
In this performance, Charice sounds better even though we know how phenomenal Sohyang is as a vocalist. I think the reason why Charcie sounded better is because her voice is more similar to Whitney Houston, and so it sounded thicker and rounder and more like the original version that everyone is used to listening. Charice's voice shines best in her mid belt registers, similar to Whitney, while Sohayng is known for her upper chest register. Some people might think Sohyang's voice is more similar to Mariah's, which to some degree is, but Mariah's voice is very rare to even be duplicated.

Obviously charice is much better than sooyang. But sooyang is good,. Sooyang's diction are not clear. And her intonations are sometimes sounds pitche, little bit flat or sharp. While charice sounds perfect pitch. Charice lower range are wider and thick. But sooyangs higher range are spectacular but thin sounds while charice sounds pleasant and thicker. And the most important is charice sings with emotions like shes telling a story.that she is ON the music.. Thats why you cant compare charice because she is on the other upper class level

Luigi L Sohyang may not be suitable for duet actually. If she has to harmonize, she will have to compress her voice while keeping her throat open in order to get great resonance. She wants resonance, which makes her voice much bigger and more powerful, but the sound would come out loud which sounds like she is competing.

I saw some comments making it seem as if So Hyang and Charice were competing with each other. I'm not sure why you would think that way. They weren't free-singing. They had to rehearse before the show. I don't see any competition here. For those favoring Charice, please remember that she was supposed to be the focus in the show; not Sohyang who was an invited guest singer to accompany Charice only.

I’m from the Philippines and I love Sohyang. Please refrain from commenting negative about Sohyang, her voice is one in a million. She doesn’t only have a great voice but very sophisticated. I won’t get tired listening to her voice. I miss Charice’s voice and her heart and soul performance - very passionate. I love this duet.

By the way, this video was filmed around 2011, and it must be taken into account that Sohyang did not sing popular music such as pop songs or Kpop songs, and that it was a time when she only sang with CCM. Sohyang said in I Am a Singer Season 2 in 2012 that she didn't even know how to sing regular songs until then, and that after appearing on the I Am a Singer program, she learned how to sing regular songs by watching her senior and junior colleagues sing.
So Hyang don't fit to this song her voice is too sweet and with low key notes obviously she can't do belt unlike Charice she sings effortless. I love Charice here! 👏💜

I completely disagree to those people here in the comment section who choose which one is much better. Sohyang is good at her headvoice and mixing her voice (mixed) has a nice technique, and voice quality (maybe pronunciation of her made it sound a little bit off but it is considerable because she's not that fluent to english or because of her accent). Charice shows how she's good at chest voice, also has a good technique and voice quality. There's no need for comparison both showcase their talent with such ease. :) peace y'all

I like how charice just allowed sohyang to do her stuff. She sat in the backseat nd let her have her day. Charice was comfortable supporting her. It kinda looks like Sohyang was trying to out do her, but in a performance all you have to do is support and blend in with your partner, show a few highlights. But the important thing is both of you carry the song together. In here, you'll see Charice trying to blend in at every oppprtunity she has. I guess that's because she's performed with multiple international artists before for her to know that a duet is a duet and not a competition

maberik8 I'm not denying Charice's talent but have you heard So Hyang's voice in other videos? she is truly the beast. English isn't her first language so of course she'll have an accent. Her voice in here of course is thin compared to Charice's but that doesn't mean she isn't as good. She has way more experience in singing techniques than Charice. Charice isn't that famous either. She had her moment.
