My wife and I have spent an accumulated seven years in China, I as a professor, and one would not believe how much we have come to appreciate and love their music, both traditional and contemporary. I have over one-hundred DVDs and three hundred CDs. In fact, my favorite contemporary female singer is Zhang Wei Jia, who is the Chinese equivalent of our Karen Carpenter. Also, the Twelve Girls Band features all traditional instruments and if you can, order any of their DVDs. For a marvelous listening experience you might Google the female group, Hei Ya Zi, or Black Duck, who perform primarily traditional Chinese songs but have some masterful renditions of modern western songs.

Im a Malaysian born Chinese living in Australia. My first trip to China (Beijing) in 2005 blew my mind away. Straightaway, i immersed myself in loads of Chinese music and instruments. After so many years, not even a single bit am i bored with the colourful places, rich history, diverse cultural backgrounds of China. Listening to music like this is really enjoyable and relaxing. Hopefully the western world can appreciate and view China in a different way to what the western medias and politicians are portraying.

Western world still have lot of archives about the Asian world. You should spend time in their museum and library where scholars tell you via unbias lens. I've noticed that with some (and I suspect most) traditional Chinese instruments, there's two ways to play them: through concentration or through mindfulness. Nearly all videos of people playing those instruments show the player either tense with concentration or show them completely relaxed and immersed in the music (this video belonging to the latter). It's fascinating.

It's been a month since I started meditating. And while doing so, I tried putting meditation music on but it just distracts me. Then, last week I came across a video of Instrumental Chinese Music. And the first thing I heard was this. I've been using this as my meditation background music for days now, and it helped me a lot! I find it easier to focus, relax and meditate with this music. I think I found my own way of meditating now, thanks a lot to this!

古箏是展現小橋流水的音色，古琴則是著重於意境空靈的表達，同樣是撥弦樂器，音色却是各有不同....各有各的美。

以前总觉得，古琴和古筝，分不清楚。刚才听了1小时古琴，现在来听古筝，那区别是极其明显！各有各的特色，都很美！

How's it going? As long as you (two) put in enough effort, you can definitely play it well! As someone who plays the guzheng, it was easier for me to learn the fingerings and remember where the notes were positioned first, but it may not work for you that way. Work hard and you'll definitely be able to play it! If you don't have a guzheng there's an app called guzheng extreme, though it won't allow for the fingerings. :D stay safe!
