@Valiforni Regained territory the size of Denmark since the initial Russian push though. Russia has lost its momentum and every intelligence report confirm that their army is basically unable to advance (hence why Russia did little to no progress in the last months). Ukraine has been able to target Crimea recently. The Russian army has basically "lost" air supremacy (they never managed to enforce air supremacy to begin with). The Russian fleet is also hiding since they noticed they didn't control the sea either (Moskva being hit by missiles). To me it seems that the momentum is building on the Ukrainian side as they refused to talk about a ceasefire with Russia and swore to liberate Crimea and have been able to destroy Russian air defenses, target ammo depots and airbases. The Ukrainian army literally has an all seeing eye and can target anything in the Russian army as this past month demonstrated. You can even see individual soldiers thanks the the satellites feeding the coordinates of Russian targets. Lost territory doesn't mean much, the USSR also lost a lot of territory during WW2 and France was completely invaded yet the allies won the war in the end. New NATO tech is also completely overpowering the decaying Russian tanks and systems. Just look at what an handful of HIMARS have been able to do. NATO and allies have hundreds if not a thousand of these. Western support isn't going to stop as Europe has enough reserves to "survive" the winter and that supplies will be reestablished by next year. Russia has lost, it's economically defeated and their armies don't have much success. It's not as if the Russian army could build enough momentum to start attacking again and Ukraine just has to wait it out and focus on their counter-offensive in Kherson to "meatgrind" the Russian army. Russia can't sustain this war for years, Ukraine and the West can. Russian international arm sales have also took a huge hit as the international opinion that Russia is losing is reflected by nations not buying Russian military products anymore. Their military industry won't survive this long term after such a display of bad engineering and tower-tossing tank explosions. If you have reasons to think Russia could still win the war I'd be interested to hear them as I'd like to be as informed about the war as possible. It's just that the Russian state TVs and Russian diplomats blatantly lie all the time so I literally stopped gathering information there.

people ran away from the gdr because after ww2 the west gave the soviet union the worst parts of germany in terms of infrastructure and industry. it didn't stand a chance when compared to the western-occupied parts of germany. If the soviet union had been given what it deserved for effectively being the country to win ww2, there wouldn't have been such horrible conditions in the gdr.
