i think it's so clever how the song is randomised each time you enter a new floor, because EVERY TIME i'm like "aw hell yeah, it's THIS one!" and then i clear out the floor and go onto the next one, and i'm like "aw HELL yeah, it's THIS one!!"
Really love how even though it's clearly indebted to Hotline Miami's brutal style, the fact that it's all one musician means there's a sense of cohesion among the music, which allows for shit like that absurd mandolin on Silent Scream to happen and not feel out of place. God that sounds cool.
It's insanely cohesive with very distinct instrumentation and motifs throughout. As much as I love HM1+2 OSTs, this makes them look amateurish, and well, slapdash.
I think the sound design in this game is just extremely intelligent and well designed in general. the sheer meat to the gunshots and the way they fill in as the percussion with these tracks when your playing, the abrupt cut-off of all audio when you die, the lingering heartbeat when you clear a level, I think you get the point. it just feels so well thought out, the audio in this game in all aspects feels like its able to convey to the player what it wants to without feeling overcomplicated or overbearing, its so good.
Most of the reviews on Steam mention Raycevick. He may have single-handedly sold thousands of copies of this game just by his glowing review and signal boost.
@@robertreynolds561 that’s where I purchase most of the music I listen to. To be completely honest I refunded the game because I was awful at it, so I paid double for the soundtrack out of guilt. Haha
You know what, if Payday 3 couldn't strike another collab with Hotline Miami, I wouldn't mind playing as another mute dude as this character with his white mask on.
After its launch, I managed to complete the game in Normal mode after about 16 hours. Still it drags me back. The Mansion still calls me with its violent tunes of gunfire and destruction like a siren call. One of the best games to have played this year.
I haven’t even touched impossible mode or the challenges added by the 666 update but I’m still playing at least 1 run a day even after 30 hours. One of the most addictive games ever made
I don't get hooked on games like I got hooked on this one. Roguelikes usually just wear me down as soon as I have trash luck, but I feel in this game it doesn't matter. It feels similar to risk of rain, where the ending is just a way to kind of finish off a session of gameplay in a satisfying way, and the real fun is just playing it. Builds in OTXO add a ton, but the biggest thing is the atmosphere and tension in the gameplay. Killer soundtrack just completes everything, the huge emphasis on combos, the difficulty as floors progress, the music just pushes you forward to push ahead through more and more rooms, regardless of how high the stakes are.
I love the stuff you do lateralis I wish you got more recognition though because your stuff is seriously underrated hope you have more success with oxto
Bruh i swear this is one of the HARDEST soundtracks i have ever listened to, MASSIVE props to the game and to this bussin soundtrack. Seriously amazing talent here
18:58 Holy shit Not since M|O|O|Ns Hydrogen, Mick Gordons BFG Division and MegaNeko's Cybergrind have I heard another track that so perfectly encapsulates and personifies *ULTRAVIOLENCE* This soundtrack goes incredibly hard
It's right up there on the brutality scale with delta-9 pray and darksynth legends like the living will envy the dead LP. Wish they played this in night clubs instead of fucking disney songs.
49:32 I have a kinda funny story about Ehiztaria. Last night I was playing through a run as normal until I ended up getting a build that included Flying Squirrel, Heavy, Black Market, Enloudner, Prestissimo, and one that I can’t remember the name of that makes bullets deal more damage during focus. For those who don’t know, this means I was doing around 350-400% damage per shot with only a minimal decrease in fire rate as a penalty. Went into Ehiztaria’s boss room, waited for him to become vulnerable, and then melted his ass in seconds with the auto shotgun. Like 3 rooms later I got swarmed by a crowd of like 20 enemies and got eviscerated near instantly. They avenged his ass lol
In these types of videos you can loop the song you want, under the playback bar of the video, where the name of the song appears, you click and then on the right will appear a window called "chapters" next to the selected song you will see some arrows to loop it.
The whole playlist is awesome! I especially love the Inbred Basilisk theme! It fits great to the boss: fighting against a giant creature, you wriggle in a deadly dance with the one who moves through wriggling.
Just watched Raycevick's video on this game and bought it immediately! This soundtrack kicks so much ass! Would love for a sequel or more updates to this amazing game :D
Love the ABSOLUTELY AGGRESSIVE energy of the soundtrack, definitely buying the game AND the soundtrack off of bandcamp. Theres perfect harmony between the soundtrack and the gameplay.
Every track on this album goes harder than it should be legal but special shoutouts to: -Vitamin for showcasing emotion midway through, -The Abhorrence for making me feel like the mandolin (or whatever it is) is openly mocking my attempts at even trying to beat this game, -The Legionary for THAT. FUCKING. DROP. DIRTY, -The Forsaken Heart for taking the best elements of the soundscapes and skullfucking the main melody.
A música é tão forte quanto o jogo! Ótimo trabalho, amigo Lateralis! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ P.S.: Agradeço desde já ao Lucas, do canal Raycevick por me apresentar esse fantástico album.
Finally started playing this game just recently... and whoahly cow!!! I did not expect it to be even better than what I thought from watching that one Raycevick video! The combat, the soundtrack, the surreal feel and flow of it all... INSANE!!!
the music is on the level in general, but the variety of synthesizers and the arrangement of the tracks are clearly not enough, they are too monotonous there are a couple of good tracks here but basically they are all similar to each other
It's hard to find music that blends traditional instruments and the aggressive synths of other various genres into something as well made as this. Bonus points for only a single artist creating this entire OST to a well-made game. Cohesion is superb with this track album.
@lateralis can we use it as a stream background music? I'm streaming for audience of 4-6 people ;D but this is exactly my jam. I would love to get an answer on that
Hooray. This got chapters we can loop to the individual OSTs to prevent re-uploads. If one doesn't know the utility of RU-vid chapters yet, that's it. You can loop certain chapters, utilize it. Instead of having to collect each solitary track, you can just have an EP and loop a specific section. Very powerful.
